Can't work this out - Mira Shore

Our shower needs a new hose and shower head holder (I'm thinking of getting suction cup ones) but can't work out what diameter hose the new one needs to be. I know I can measure the diameter with a tape measure but don't think I'll be accurate. It's a Mira Shore 8.5kw one. Does anyone know?

I thought there was only one size for shower hose fittings? And both ends will be the same. Only physical difference is likely to be that one end has a longer, tapered collar to fit snugly in the showerhead holder.

Post some photos of what you have if needed.

Since it's a Mira shower, this is what Mira say on their website:
Shower hoses might all look the same to the untrained eye, but the cones on the ends can differ, which affects how the hose fits on to your riser or bracket. The wrong size will be difficult to fit, and a poor fit could cause your shower head to slip during showering. Getting the right size is a must and Mira shower hoses are designed to perfectly fit our showers.

Like @ThisIsWeird I must also have an untrained eye because I too thought there was only one size (1/2") nowadays

    Good point, Alder.
The actual threaded ends are the same, but I guess the fitting can vary - I have noticed that some aftermarket hoses are a sloppy fit in the holder.

However, PoGee is seemingly buying a new holder too, so hopefully can get a matched set.

PoGee, if it's the actual threaded fitting on to the shower unit and handset you are concerned about, they will almost certainly be standard.

Not all the same, some have a hexagon nut on one end. Plus Mira have a larger internal bore.
Cheap and nasty = short life and poor shower flow.
If Mira replace with Mira imo suction cup is poo
A thankyou is payment enough .

Not for electric showers IMO, especially for a 8.5kW one.

So it doesn’t matter if the hose bore is 6,8 or 10mm ?

I'll get the actual Mira Shore one at £20.

For the pitiful flow from an electric shower (~6lpm or so?) coupled with it being driven at mains pressure, I don't think size matters. In any case, the temp is determined by the flow, so for a certain temp, the flow has to be the same.

With a mixer shower, there could be a reduction due to the larger flow required - and definitely if gravity powered

But I could be wrong :-)

It does - when you are taking a cold shower.
