Delete last post as I wasn't reading it (form)correctly

In reply to HSB's (now deleted post) - If you then look at page 35 it asks -
"How often do you need someone to remind or encourage you to prepare and cook food?", and
"How often do you need someone with you to keep you safe when you prepare and cook food?", etc
So, in your scenario the answer would be - 'I need help on all but one day a month.'
Edit: This was a reply to the post which HSB's has now deleted.
At first glance, the Scottish form could be an improvement on the PIP2 form, at least it gives more information about the activities, what counts as aids, etc. and more prompts and space on the form to encourage a claimant to go into more depth for each activity.
Just needs a bit of intelligent thought and commonsense when completing it, to ensure the decision maker gets the full picture.
As long as the length of the form doesn't put people off.
As spoonie suggests it may be a good idea to seek some help when doing it for the first time (depending on the claimant's capability).

Ahh right. With you now, so I would still need to prepare the food, ingredients etc. and then cook them in the microwave instead of the hob. I wouldn't be able to do that, I still couldn't prepare the food. My limit is bunging a ready meal in the microwave. So I answer no to being able to cook or prepare a simple meal.poppy12345 said:If ADP is anything like PIP then carry things around the kitchen is not taken into consideration. The problem is if I answer no to preparing and cooking a simple meal it then tells me to skip to page 39 which then misses the section about the microwave. It seems as if they are including using a microwave as preparing and cooking a meal. If I say yes as I can use a microwave I then need to fill out the rest of the relevant sections between pages 33-38 and have no clue how to answer them. You will only see my problem if you look at the link above. I'm sorry if I'm struggling to get my point across. Thanks for the reply Auti it's appreciated. This section is very contradictory.
It states. Can you prepare and cook a simple meal.
Yes: I can sometimes or always prepare a meal by myself or with help.
No: I cannot prepare and cook a meal by myself and always need someone to do this for me.
If no fill in the box below then skip to page 39.
This then means it misses out all the questions above. However I can use a microwave under supervision so I'm assuming they class using a microwave as preparing and cooking a simple meal. To me however using a microwave does not constitute preparing food.
A meal can be prepared by using a microwave in the same way it can be using a hob. You would still need to prepare that food to go into the microwave.0 -

Yes but you'll need to give more information than just answering "no"

Thanks Poppy, you are a font of knowledge. I'll explain why I said no. Fatigue, pain, balance problems, stiffness, dizziness, tremor etc. Forgetfulness, cannot chop or peel veg, cannot handle hot pots/pans and sharp knives. Have fallen and at constant risk of falling. Have dropped things and previously burnt myself and left the hob on burning things. Would only be able to eat cold food unless someone cooks for me etc. Obviously I'll word it better than that but you get the jist.poppy12345 said:0 -
Most important is that you give full detail on your form and explain exactly why you can't do each of those things safely or reliably, even if you had aids or someone to help. Explain what would happen if you had to try, why aids or supervision/assistance wouldn't help, and give examples of things that have happened in the past if possible. You probably will need to use extra sheets, and the form anticipates that - it gives instructions what info is required on each separate sheet.Wobblyjoe said:

I got ADP recently and answered:
- yes to the “Can you prepare food”
- yes to ‘Can you use a microwave”
- “Leg pain and cant stand for more than 5-10 mins” for the “how you feel after”
All the others I left blank or n/a
i got 2 out of 8 points but similar points around the other daily living questions so enough for the standard award1 -
