Just in need of a bit of advice. I have been the named policyholder on two vehicles for many years and my OH has been a named driver. i would like to transfer the no claims bonus that have been built up from a vehicle that we have recently sold so my OH has his own NCB for when he gets another car but not sure whether this can be done. Neither of us has had any accidents/convictions.

You can't transfer the NCB, but you may find an insurer who gives some goodwill recognition for the history.1

Thanks - I have googled it and a few sites say that this can be done so its very confusing.0

Simplest solution might for you to keep insuring both cars as the policyholder. Most insurers will not have a problem with you insuring a car owned by a spouse or partner.
No claims bonus is not generally transferable from individual to individual, so if you want to transfer it you are reliant on finding an insurer who will allow you it as a goodwill gesture. I'm told that most insurers will allow it where one partner has died our is not going to drive again for health reasons; I'm not so sure about the situation where you have just changed your car arrangements.
With checking whether one of your current insurers offers a named driver no claims discount - this would tie your partner to the same insurer for the first year at least but it would let him have a NCD in his own name after that.0 -

NCDs are typically individuals and insurers wont ordinarily allow them to be transferred. Exceptions at time will be made but the most common one is when the policyholder has died and so they allow the NCD to be transferred to the widow(er). Your circumstances probably dont pull on the heart strings enough to trigger an agent to seek exceptional permission.0
