Selecting a Double Glazing Company

Hi - what kind of questions do I need to ask a company before employing them?  I've googled a number and looked on Trust Pilot - all so mixed.  I've asked locally and a few suggestions - but again reviews are so mixed.  What I want to know is that the product is going to be fitted properly and is going to last well.  How can I find out if I'm getting a company that knows what it's doing and not a cowboy?

If they give you the hard sell and use the line "let me call my manager to get you a deal" or similar, kick them out.
If they won't quote without your partner being present, don't even invite them in - It will be an overpriced hard sell..
You want a price upfront without any "discounts" or sales BS, so that rules out the likes of Anglian, Everest, Safestyle, etc.

If you have an older property, you need to ask them about lintels & steels  A lot of houses built before 1970 (maybe a bit later) used the window frames to provide structural support for the outer leaf of brickwork - A major problem with houses round here built between the wars. Old timber frames ripped out, new uPVC installed. Within a few years, the brickwork above the window starts to sag & crack.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • I am looking for some advice here I signed a contract with Safestyle paying them a £3000 cash deposit on the 08th of December 2022.  I subsequently cancelled the contract a week later after they breached the terms.  I am currently taking them throught the small claims court to get the money I paid them back.  They are claiming that they posted two phantom cheques to me on the 22nd of December which have never arrived and they have not provided any proof of postage or that the cheques have been cashed and yet they are claiming as they say they posted these cheques that they have paid me in full is this even legal.

    That was your first mistake.
paying them a £3000 cash deposit
That was your second mistake - always use a credit card for things like this.

You have 2 options here.  Either contact them to say that you have not received the cheques and request a refund via bank transfer, or wait until you receive the outcome of the small claims proceedings.
