Harrods £40 Hampers NOT HAPPY

my gran used to give me £10 in an envelope for xmas, she did this every year till i was 15 (a lot of years ago)! a couple of days short of my 17th birthday she died.
my point is since then i have been given vouchers/presents worth a lot more than £10.
But to this day what my gran gave me allbeit £10 was best - as i could choose and buy what i wanted, when i wanted or simply save the money for a rainy day.
My gran always used to say 'ive decided to give you this cos i never know what you young uns want!)
To this day iv taken the same stance, many of my pressies are or will be a tesco voucher (a general purpose all round useful voucher for the elders most of them i know will use it to fill their cars with petrol if anything else) and a £10 note in a envelope for the youngs uns - no more last min running around, waiting in queues etc)
and a recent headline goes to prove my grans point!

ALL that for £40 !!?? guess I know where not to shop0 -
It has got to be common sense though that £40 worth of goods from one of the world's most famous (and expensive) shops is not going to contain as much as £40 worth of goods from Tesco or Asda.I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.0

My sister bought me one of these a few years back..it was RUBBISH.This post was created in an area that may contain nuts!0

To be fair, does that listing not describe itself as a basket, not a hamper?
Everyone else is right though...you can buy a lot more for £45 if you go to somewhere like Au Naturelle, buy a nice basket or box, trot down to the local supermarket and take a look along the shelves. If you go to Sainsbury you'll even find an aisle of the same sort of luxury brand products that Harrods sell, but at about 1/4 the price. Bit of cheap tissue paper run through the shredder and what you'll have will look x100 more impressive than a Harrods box.Val.0 -
