Problem with laptop battery

Hello I purchased a Macbook in Oct 2021 with one year apple warranty. The battery is no longer charging, and when I click on the battery icon, I get the message "Service recommended: The battery is performing normally, but its ability to hold a charge is less than when it was new. You may want to consider replacing the battery". It still works fine when plugged in. Estimated cost on the website is £129 as it is out of the one year warranty. I have had Macbooks before and never had this issue, is there any consumer law that would cover this? TIA

Batteries are classed as consumable item, after a year I can't you getting any joy from anywhere in getting it refunded/ replaced.

Take it to an Apple Store I know it's out of warranty but you never know what they might say/do
That is your very best option1
