Chase cashback with Paypal F&F?

Hi all,

Will I get cash back with Chase if I link the debit card to my Paypal account and send e.g. a £100 payment via Friends & Family or will Chase decline that? Using F&F debit card payments via F&F for round ups on RBS and Natwest and don't have problems with that so was wondering if I can make a few extra ££ by circulating money through Paypal.

https://www.chase.co.uk/gb/en/legal/Cashback-Exclusions/ lists a lot and the only thing I could imagine being an exclusion is "Money transfers, MoneySend transactions" but technically speaking it's a Debit Card Payment and could be for anything so the question is what Merchant Category Code (MCC) is given to those transactions.

Anyone tried or experience?

Why don't you try it and let us know if you get cashback from Chase.

Because I don't have a Chase account and want to make sure this works before I open an account as it otherwise is probably not worthwhile for me. That's why I was asking ;-)

The answer is surely "no". Otherwise there's a simple money making scheme there. Just keep seding money to and fro and get 1% each time.

As the cashback from Chase applies only to Debit Card Payments, every payment is technically a Debit Card Payment, so that reasoning is moot.

There are loopholes everywhere so unless somebody has tried we won't find out. I make 99 (RBS daily limit) 0.01 F&F Payments to my partner daily so I can fill up the RBS regular saver in a matter of days and this is working now for 1.5 weeks without issue from either Paypal or RBS. You can also open as many TSB Spend and Save accounts you can get, make the necessary 30 transaction per account via Paypal and cash in £5 cash back per month. A lot of things work....

You won’t get the payment on transfers there is a list of what is included on the app, as I understand it every transaction has a merchant code and that is used to decide if cashback is payable.

for instance I used the card to pay a deposit for school trip fees which was not applicable for cashback

Also PayPal F&F abuse has caused account closure very often so I would be cautious of doing something like that for 1% cashback

The RBS method of topping up the regular saver works because it is your own money topping it up. The Chase cashback is coming from Chase coffers.
