Moving in with partner

So I plan on moving in with my boyfriend at the end of this month but need some advice.
I currently claim HB and tax credits and I'm in full time education. I'm aware all of these benefits will stop (his income is too high) I'm SO excited not to have to rely on them anymore because it causes me massive anxiety, however, I'm a bit confused about the whole process.
So I intend on updating tax credits online on the app and also calling them to ensure they stop the claim and there's no overpayment, the day he moves in. I will also do this with housing benefit. My question is this.... how do i evidence the date he moved in? What will they ask for?
I dont intend on putting him on my tenancy agreement as I've never lived with a man before and want to protect myself and my children (I have sought landlords permission and this will be in writing) but if it all goes wrong I have to make sure we are protected.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

I'm not too sure what the case would be for tax credits, but for Housing Benefit (and I presume your current Council Tax reduction for being a student and/or sole adult occupier) would be just to inform the council that you no longer require those payments. Give them a ring, they may ask you to fill out a new form just to double check your entitlement (esp for Council Tax as your student rate may well continue) so a quick chat would be best anyway.1

You just need to report the changes to HMRC. Whether there's any overpayment will depend on the final figures. Once it's all calculated you will be sent the final notice.

For tax credits they won't ask for evidence because your claim will just end. For housing benefit unless you end your claim because you know there's no entitlement then they will ask for your partner details and proof of earnings as well as bank statements.
