Afther having the old methers replaced with smart ones few months ago I logged into the E-on account today only to see

We’re having trouble getting readings from your smart meters.

To avoid an estimated bill, please send us your readings. You can get help reading your meters and see why we might not be getting your readings.

  • For gas smart meters, press and hold the red button A for 5-10 seconds. This will then display ‘Credit ON’. Press and release button A, and the meter will display the reading.

So far so good, but pressing the red button doesn't display any 'Credit ON'. What I see is "Meter Index 00573.081 m3"
What on earth is this 'index'?! Is it the reading that I need?

And to make things worse, I see  TWO gas meters in the account:

Gas

E6S13009942261

Looks like we’ve not got any actual meter readings for this meter yet.

Send reading

Gas

0000934

It’s 93 days since your last reading.

Do I have to call E-on to clean this mess?

We are born naked, wet and hungry...Then things get worse. :(

.withdrawal, NOT withdrawel ..bear with me, NOT bare with me
.definitely, NOT definately ......separate, NOT seperate
should have, NOT should of
.....guaranteed, NOT guarenteed

Meter index is your reading, so 00573 from the numbers you give.
Some will donwhat they said, and some will go straight to the reading

On the two meters front, did you have smart meters fitted recently?
The Landis & Gyr E6 is a smart meter fitted recently, probably 93 days ago I'm guessing.
It looks like they haven't completely put the meter exchange through so the old and new are still showing
