I put my claim in July 2021.
I have responded straight away asking them to reconsider decision & putting appeal in. My appeal was put in 10 months ago. I still don't have a date.
I sent some information that was requested in August. In November I asked what was happening, they said I hadn't replied to the request for info in August. I said I had sent it straight back. Oh yes, they said. Here it is, it's just been sitting on the system as nobody actually processed it. 3 month delay for somebody's lack of being able to doing their job properly, and it only came to light then because I asked.
They have told me today that I am way over the average wait time, but nothing else.
Has anyone else waited this long?
I was on DLA before, but received nothing when it changed to PIP  I couldn't face appealing at the time, but since thought it wasn't fair so put a new claim in. I now know why I didn't bother appealing the first time.

Yes, it's not unusal to be waiting that long because of the delays.

Thanks. When the chat advisor said 'it's way past the average wait time', it's a concern
  • If you had an extra delay that is maladministration then you can make a complaint about that, just not the normal long delay.

It has been known for others to wait that long. During the first part of Covid waiting times were drastically reduced but since last year the wait has been increasing.

Thanks. I did complain in November. I was given an email address to send it to, and they never replied!

    Doesn't surprise me.
As it would  "only" be an extra 3 months delay I would expect for you to get a "we are very sorry" letter

Personally for the amount of effort it would take I wouldn't bother chasing up that issue, but I would be calling every so often to see the progress.

I've just written to them to complain. I will send it recorded delivery. I looked it up after you mentioned it and found that there could be a special payment allowance for maladministration delays. I would highly doubt this happening, am more so hoping it just helps the progress.  Thank you.
  • Just to clarify, is your claim still with DWP? ie you requested a Mandatory Reconsideration and are still awaiting a response? Or has it actually gone to the Appeal stage and been lodged with the Tribunal?

Hi I finally got my renewal done last months just over 12 months from when I sent it in. Originally I was told it would take 8 weeks when I rang to check they had it (knew it wasn’t going to be that quick)

my youngest has autism and her renewal was done a few months before and hers was done within 2 weeks!! A phone call to check a couple of things within a week then decision sent by the next week  must say I was shocked in a good way and much better than the time before when she had a face to face with me as her appointee and was 16. She has selective mutism also and refused to look or speak to the nurse doing the assessment except for one yes she would look at me to reply. She had a comprehensive report from school as well as medical reports the school one in particular detailing how she wouldn’t speak to anyone in class, would walk right round the class so as not to walk passed people talking and in way. Also she had a separate quiet area for lunch and breaks. In the comments at beginning she noted much of this including mentioning the reports which I’d checked she had

in the actual points sections she scored an impressive 0 points in all sections with comments about how she spoke fully and clearly and went out by herself with friends and to medical appointments by herself. As well as a complaint regarding the nurse where they said the nurse could only go by what she had seen on the day I pointed out that she had said in the summing up that she hadn’t spoken except one yes and didn’t make eye contact so was a complete contradiction to the rest of it.  The mandatory reconsideration changed to 8 points for daily living and 12 points for mobility (she wouldn’t go out by herself).
