Prepare yourself for your first or second deposit from Santander to result in your account getting blocked. Once you have managed to get the block lifted, you should be fine with subsequent deposits. But may be you are lucky and they let you off entirely.thegentleway said:
Great I’ve got a Santander account so I’ll just link that instead.Band7 said:
I have done £40k+ with Santander, in 3 lots, as the CHIP (?) limit is £15k per transaction.thegentleway said:Trying to deposit savings into Chip from my Barclays account but it only lets me pull £2,000 a day!? Is this the same with other banks?
I wasn't aware that there are different limits for different banks. Have you tried depositing with debit card? Though careful, it takes 3 days before you begin to get interest on debit card deposits
Haven’t tried with debit card as can’t be doing with waiting 3 days.0 -
I've overcome Barclays £2,000 limit. What you need to do is :
- Make a £1,000 payment using Chip to Barclays through OpenBanking (normal Chip process using their app).
- Add the chip account as a 'Trusted Payee' in Barclays app. I did this by getting account number and sort code that the £1000 went to in Barclays app, then sent £1 to this account, adding the Chip account details (sort code, account number) as a Trusted Payee.
- Then try larger amount (£10,000 max per day limit) . It WILL fail.
- Call Barclays Fraud (0345 050 4584) immediately and explain situation, they will resolve (Warning : I was on phone for 30 mins with them to do this and pass all their checks. It's possible they may ask you to go in branch for an initial verification).
- Further transactions up to £10,000 now allowed.0 -
If I understand correctly, you initiated the £1 payment from Barclays, not from Chip, right?tringo007 said:I've overcome Barclays £2,000 limit. What you need to do is :

Did you then try the larger payment as a payment initiated from CHIP?
NB: sounds easier to use a bank which doesn't have silly OB limits like Barclays do0
