Barclays GDPR request

Hello all,

wondering whether anyone else has ever requested right to access from Barclays and has difficulty?

initially requested it in September and they waited a month then sent a letter saying go to branch with ID, so logged again by a staff member over the phone in November, and said would be fine this time

I done mine on line as I need all info held on my barclaycard that is closed for a cca request, want to check what info they hold before doing so. 30 days have passed and I received nothing, spoke to 2 customer service people who didn’t even know what one was, and then put the phone down on me twice ‘accidentally’.  Managed to get through to someone who is chasing the GDPR team via email and will give me an update.

Really don’t understand how this can be difficult, it’s a request made with all the correct details and the address is the same so don’t understand what is causing issues.

I’m hoping the fact they are struggling to even deal with it gives hope that they don’t have any of the information for cca to be sufficient as it was from 2011.

Rant over 🤣

Assuming this is in relation to whether a debt is enforceable or not, rather than wasting time chasing Barclays for a SAR why not just make the CCA request with the lender/collection agency?

    Hello 😀,

the advice form legal beagles was to SAR Barclays first to see what information was held prior to the cca request from the creditor so I just followed that advice really, but I suppose you are right either way they will either have the information or they won’t.

I think my only worry was that, if I request it and the information is there; they may no longer be happy with my monthly payment and want to pursue a ccj but that might just be me worrying without justification

By the sounds of it what you wanted was a dSAR or SAR (same thing, different names) rather than a GDPR request... there are various types of requests you can make under GDPR (eg request to be forgotten). Using the wrong term probably confused call centre/branch staff.

Presumably it was https://forms-int.barclays.co.uk/forms/gdpr?execution=e1s1 that you filled in?

If you look on https://www.barclays.co.uk/important-information/privacy-policy/ you will find the email address for their Data Protection Officer who is more likely to give a meaningful update

    Thank you for your reply!

That is the form I filled in yes, when on the form it asks you what your request is so I specified all data held by barclaycard for me from account opening.

But I think you’re right that’s what probably confused the staff. Thanks for that email for the DPO I have just sent an email chaser to see if I can get an update.

    Many thanks!
