Q about free gift being out of stock

bought my daughter a my little pony set at the start of november when they had one of their 25% off weeks - I could have got it for the reduced price elsewhere but in argos they were giving a breezers set worth 9.99 with it. The free gift was out of stock but they gave me a ticket and said i could claim it anytime within 3 months. I rang the argos helpline a week later to find out if it was in stock locally and they said not due until 15th Dec. Rang sat, still no stock and they don't know if they are going to get any in at all - I'm disappointed as I wanted the breezer set to go with it and it's a xmas present. Are argos under any obligation to substitute it with a different item at all? what happens if they don't end up re-stocking it? any advice appreciated. thank you

I too had problems getting Breezies Parade!!!

I bought my daughter the My Little Pony house and I managed to get Breezies Parade at a nearby stores. But that was the last one. I dont think Argos are under any obligation as its a FREE GIFT - I guess all they could do is give you your money back and get a refund on the item you bought. Have u tried other stores? The store I went into reserved it for me at the other store

Also, as it has its own cat number (which only shows internally on their systems - not on their website) u could ask your store to check other stores for you?

phoned them again this morning, they are out of stock everywhere - they are waiting for the suppliers who are abroad to advise if they are going to send additional stock or not and told me not to phone again until the middle of january!!! Really peed off about it tbh.

usually free gifts have 'subject to stock' written so if they dont get it back in dont think you force them, but complaining to head office nicely might just get you a free voucher or something

To be honest Breezies Parade only a small little set of of small ponies. Its nothing special. Do you have the Breezy pony as well? The Breezy pony came with the My Little Pony House I got but the Breezies Parade just hooks on the back. Maybe you will get in it Jan, but honestly I would try not to worry about it.

I had this with a bike and free helmet for my son...the helmet had its own number, but they would not give me that as they said that was for sale, and they said they only had the same number of bikes as hats and mine must be lost

I did stand my ground when they told me to travel to the next store to get it, and eventually got the helmet (by now it was the principle as the sales assistant was really stroppy that I wanted the gift that was advertised and showing as in stock)

mine is more the principle - at the time I bought it, I could have got the item cheaper elsewhere but got it from argos because of the free gift which I knew my daughter would have liked and as it retailed at 9.99, it was worth it - I will keep pursuing it though and keep this updated. x

Yeh it annoyed me too when I realised I had not got the free gift and I totally know what you mean when you say its the prinicple.
Hope you manage to get one eventually

Yip - friend and I both bought one of the My Little Pony Castles last night. Expecting the free gift - out of stock and no idea when they will get it!! Have up to 3 months to claim it. :mad:

Why can they not give out a £10 Argos voucher which can be exchanged for the free gift if/when it comes back in stock?
Probably hoping the majority of customers won't claim within 3 months...
