Wait for new macbook pro or buy 2022 macbook now?

I have the money to buy a new macbook to replace my 2013 one. I was hoping the new models would be out now but they are not yet. Does anyone have any suggestions on whether to wait for the new ones to come out or buy a 2022 model now? Do the previous model prices drop when a new model is released? Has anyone heard if the 2023 models are going to have significantly improved features? Also if I go with 2022 I'm not sure whether to go Air or Macbook Pro. Would be very grateful for insight from people who know more about techie stuff than me. Thanks in advance.

I bought the 2022 MacBook Air 3 months ago and gave my MacBook Pro 2013 to my son.
What a disappointment it was, not only coming down a step but also the new M2 chip.
A big mistake for me and I resold it on EBay and purchased a Refurbished MacBook Pro 2019
