Multicover Insurance…….disadvantages?

Hi all. Have currently got multicover insurance with Admiral for 2 vehicles. I am thinking of putting house insurance on it, plus son can learn to drive from april so wondering whether to put him on the insurance too.
My concerns are over the excesses…..if we have an accident in car  would this affect the house insurance quotes for next year, as part of same policy? And how does the NCD work? Would i be better starting a new policy for my son in his name to get NCD for him? Very confused. Can anyone help please?

Each policy can have its own NCD and policyholder. Downside is all due at the same time so large bill in one go. Another downside I've not seen yet is price creeping up and then being uncompetitive but big engine cars seem to be priced well with Admiral.

Car and home policies are separate so no impact on NCD
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Many are really just multi-policy discounts rather than a true multi-policy policy

With many it harmonises your renewal dates to a single date, part of the idea has always been that by having everything on the same date then customers are less likely to shop around... its one thing to do a car in Jan, another in March, Home in August and Pet in November but having to do 4 or more policies all the same day is a drag and people are lazy.

I had a multi car policy with Admiral for a few years. No longer competitive, saved £100 in September by changing insurer for both cars.

Downside is that it aligns all your dates, so come renewal you will be paying out for all policies.
