Discussion with neighbours

I had a leak in my kitchen coming from a communal area. I couldn't contact my neighbour upstairs and the guy who did the job has used the wrong product, my neighbour is going to put a complain to her insurance. What can happen?

If the ‘guy’ was a professional and you have an invoice for the work then ask the insurance co to take it up with him (if you ever hear from them). Is the kitchen fixed now, or has your guy actually made it worse?0

Hi OP
You had a leak in your kitchen from the comm area and the leak then went to you neighbours from your place?

No, the leak was always in my kitchen ceiling. She wants to complain to her insurance because i didnt notify her in advance of the job. And he did a bad jobdiystarter7 said:Hi OP

My insurance doesnt cover because it is damp that has been happening for a long time. I dont know if the leak is totally fixed until heavy rain, but she isn't happy i didn't notify her in advance and the job now has not been done ok in the communal areadaivid said:If the ‘guy’ was a professional and you have an invoice for the work then ask the insurance co to take it up with him (if you ever hear from them). Is the 'job' actually worse than the original leak?
What is her actual 'complaint'?
Any chance of some details?1 -
The guy who came to do the job sealed the stairs above my kitchen with the wrong product. She has to get to her property with a wood ladder. She is now looking for someone else to fix the problem. It was an emergency repair because it was the only day without rain. The guy did other jobs inside my kitchen.ThisIsWeird said:Is the 'job' actually worse than the original leak?

If you ain't going to give us some decent info, I'm out...
So far we have - 'the guy uses the wrong sealant, and now my neighbour can only access her property via a wooden ladder.'?
Let me think...4 -
HOW does this ladder-climbing lady KNOW that the wrong sealer was used? I mean, SHE knows more about sealants than you, a man?
(ONLY KIDDING!)
But your neighbour not only seemingly knows that the wrong sealant was used, but you seemingly cannot even ID WHAT the used sealant actually is?
And, what is the problem? Has the leak not been fixed? What will it take to remove the old stuff?1 -
By communal area do you mean an wall or ceiling shared by you and your neighbour or an area used by other properties? If your neighbour lives above you how are they affected by a leak in your ceiling and why do they need a ladder to access their property to see it as they are above you? Where is the water coming from? Can you post some information from the invoice for the repair?0
