Sony Ps5 Problems

So, my sons ps5 began developing problems a month or 2 ago, randomly powering down while playing. Called Sony after Christmas who gave us some troubleshooting to work through to no avail. The guy I spoke to seemed helpful and I explained the purchase would be 2 years ago on the 15th Jan 23 so needed sorting quickly which he agreed and would be plenty of time. I called back tonight as the fault is not resolved and was told the warranty is only 12 months so 240 for repair/replace. Info is conflicting online, but I thought UK warranty would have been 24 months. Any ideas what I can do, or do I have to stomach the repair bill when I can afford it?

The UK warranty length is whatever Sony say it is, there is no standard (or indeed a need to give a warranty).
However under consumer law you may have rights against the retailer, who was that?0 -
Had exactly the same issue with my sons PS5. It was bought at launch and so was also out of warranty. It basically needed a really good clean as was overheating due to dust. YouTube has some videos on how to take apart (although it’s a piece of cake). Have had no problems since although have since given it another clean so dust doesn’t build up.0

Where did you purchase it from?
You need to claim through consumer rights rather than warranty.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
