Telephone purchase using Mastercard

Can telephone purchases still be made using Mastercard as mine has been refused 3 times now - I have been told by NewDay (John Lewis) that this service has been stopped now due to new rules and law changes. The suppliers in question said that, as far as they were concerned, they were still able to take payments over the phone. Has anyone else had this problem as I have not received anything official regarding this change?

Not heard the Card Not Present (CNP) has ended and be amazed if it was.
Does you card work on-line or in store
Call centre staff can give strange info.

Yes the card works on line and in store also contactless the only thing that doesn't work is telephone purchases0

Maestro was an offshoot of Mastercard and 90% of them didn’t work MOTO. They were rebranding them into Mastercards, but I believe they were still intending to leave MOTO off the card ranges.
This was a few years back and I don’t have that area of responsibility at work anymore so not sure on the latest position (we used to process over 95% of the payments via MOTO at my employer but have adapted to online gateways).1 -
It still works. Merchant need to enter some address details on the terminal as probed by it. I have made few restaurant deposit/bookings over the phone over December.1
