Good day,
I'm looking for some tools to add comments, highlights, shapes and digital signature to pdf files.
It needs to have a Linux Debian/Ubuntu version.
I'm not (at the moment) expecting to want to amend what is already there, just to (say) fill in a form received pdf without having to print - write - scan - photo and send. Waste of paper and ink!
I have a free package for shuffling pages or stitching pdfs so I don't need that either.
So far I've found:
* Cutepdf free version doesn't include these functions [Cutepdf pro $50 at the moment]
* MasterPdf free version adds a watermark [Commercial version £75]
* I used to use Foxit at work but the latest version doesn't do what I want. Looked like a subscription model which I doubt is for me.
Can any of you wonderful, knowledgeable MSE people suggest any other options I should look at, or ways to get discounts (I could probably argue student/academic discount if available)?

I have the free Foxit Reader version 6.2.3.0815. It allows you to form fill / write comments on a pdf ("Typewriter" on Comments menu). It allows you to add a "digital" (jpg) signature ("PDF Sign" on Tools menu), although some PDF's have security that prevents this.Don't think allows adding images, although the Comments menu allows you to create a stamp from an image and has a number of drawing tools. Again will depend on the level of document security that is enabled0

All too often it seems improving one function in a piece of software can lead to issues in other parts. If I find something that does what I want, it tends to stay in use, generally on an off-line PC. Good luck with the search!
