My insurance is coming to an end with esure. I don't have it set to auto renew and as a result haven't received any proposal documents for next year (which would typically have proof of my no claims). I've requested no claim proof via their online form and have received an email with my name, policy number stating this is proof of X years no claims (there is no attachment, it's just all written in the email itself).

My question is will other insurers accept this? As in the past they've tended to want a schedule of insurance document or similar that I can scan, attach as a pdf and upload.

Has anyone else used the esure email as proof for a new insurer and did they accept it?

I've never had any issues with email proof of NCD.  Just forward it on to your new insurers, or upload it to their website (whichever they ask you to do), job done.  I'm guessing it's fairly difficult for your average Joe Bloggs (like me!) to create a fake email that appears to come from a legitimate company address, or that the new insurer can easily check on the MID database if they want to, to verify it.  Not sure on the technicalities, but I've certainly never had any issues.

Thanks. I guess I'm just a bit paranoid when it comes to insurance, finance, documents etc

When I take out the new policy I'll save the email as a pdf and upload it and hopefully they'll accept it. I'll post back here to say if it was accepted

Even though you arent on auto-renewal you would normally still receive and invitation to renew which would have a schedule inc your NCD

That's what usually happens, however in this case I haven't received anything. When I login I can see the renewal price and the details they've used (name, car, where parked, years license held etc) however there are no documents (schedule etc) available. I only have the option to purchase and it takes me to a page to input my card details (still no documents there, so I assume they'd only get generated after I purchase it).

I'll probably just leave auto renewal on next time so at least I get the proper documents and ring up to cancel it before it renews.

So turned out I was just being too eager. A couple of days later I logged in and they had put the proper documents there in case I wanted to renew. This included the schedule of insurance which has the no claims.
