Relacement Dell Laptop screens

Hi All,

My Mate has kindly donated a Dell Inspiron 8000 to me. Excellent condition but cracked screen. Looking to obtain a replacement - probably salvaging one from another machine. What other donor models could I use for a 15.4" screen ??

At a guess, anything else from the Inspiron range that supports broadly the same range of resolutions. But if you're only using it at home then it's probably easier to pickup a cheap LCD monitor. 14-15" are dirty cheap as they're no longer in any demand whatsoever.

  • The part number is 9D944, a 14.1" screen, but you are talking up to £150, loudcox's suggestion seems far more practical

Get one off ebay, there is no shortage of people breaking dell laptops.

Just plug in dell 8000 lcd and see what happens

If there isnt one now, check regularly.

problem is the screens cost almost as much as a refurbed laptop, hell you can get a new dell for £240 with the right deals but hinges (just the metal bits)for a C600 were £30
