Octopus off-peak electricity tariffs
I would like some advice on Octopus's off-peak electricity tariffs. They offer a few of these and comparing them with the normal 'variable' tariff is difficult and complex (different standing charges etc). One of them appears to be the equivalent of 'betting' on the wholesale price of electricity.
Has anyone gone for a off peak tariff? I don't have an electric vehicle and just want to 'program' a couple of devices ... dishwasher and washer, to run off-peak. Thanks.

Unless you are using electricity for heating, have solar and battery storage and/or charging an EV then E7 or an EV tariff will likely cost you more as the day rates are significantly higher.DerekMH said:I would like some advice on Octopus's off-peak electricity tariffs. I'm in the Eastern region and now paying (rounded) 49p/kWh Day and 16p/kWh Night. For me that's brilliant - but then we use at this time of year anywhere from 90 - 95% of our electricity overnight. If I were just running appliances though the single rate EPG tariff would be far better for me.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

In my region for new signups Agile time of use tariff SC 41.61 p/day - Flexible Variable SC 41.62 p/dayDerekMH said:I would like some advice on Octopus's off-peak electricity tariffs. The previous versions of Agile and Tracker (Octopus capped at 55p/kWh electric, not sure about gas) have become no-brainers with the EPG, but the current versions are capped at 100p/kWh electric. With the previous EPG discount according to Octopus' Agile pricing explainer that took it to a max 82p/kWh. With the current discount of 31.8p that may take the maximum unit rate payable to 68p*.
After April, goodness only knows but the EPG support will no doubt reduce, giving a higher maximum unit rate on Agile and Tracker, making them more of a gamble than the older versions of the tariffs which the majority of customers are on.
*Going by Octopus' maths. I know 100-31.8≠68 but then 100-17.9≠82.0
