Experiences of claiming on travel insurance with Holiday Extras or StaySure?

I have a long list of pre-existing
conditions and last year paid about £450 for a week in Spain. I'm after
an annual policy this time.
What makes it difficult is that
review sites are full of reviews about how helpful the sales people are
(of course they are they want your money), but thin on reviews about the
claims experience. We all hope we won't need to claim but that's the
main reason for buying insurance.
I've had quotes from StaySure who are specialists and Holiday Extras who are not but will quote for pre-existing conditions.
The cover and cost for the "gold" level is similar but HE do a much better "silver" option.

I had a look for you. This site contains insurers who specialise in medical conditions, I hope you find one you like.

We had to claim with Staysure when the holiday was cancelled in the early stages of the pandemic. We only needed to claim for the accommodation deposit but I was not impressed to have 2 x excess deducted from the payout. The cost of accommodation was per unit, not per person, but they insisted they were correct. Ironically, if I'd been travelling alone the insurance cost would have been lower and the payout greater.

youth-leader. Thanks. The companies I mentioned are from that website. I was really after first hand experiences / reviews of claiming.

And if your travelling partner alone had needed to cancelled but you still went you'd be able to claim 50% of the accommodation cost even though you technically have had no loss.TELLIT01 said:We had to claim with Staysure when the holiday was cancelled in the early stages of the pandemic. Travel insurance is a per traveler policy... we see many cases on here where someones bought a holiday for their whole family and think that because they've paid for it all its only them that need insurance and that their insurer would reimburse everyone's costs.0
