eBay selling templates - do I have to?

Decided to re-start eBay selling this morning after several months "rest". It appears I now have to create a template. Since I very seldom have more than one of any item, it appears I need to create a new template for anything I sell, and the creation process seems totally irrational.

I just cannot deal with this. Is there any way I can get back to the old system?

Have you used the app? I just often use sell similar option and never use templates?
If you don’t like a thread or post just move on by.

The old system is gone I'm afraid - but you should be able to hit sell link and then fill out all the details in the form that follows??
I've never had to create a template to sell an item.....

Attempted to create a "basic" template I could use. It comes up with a category 'Antiques>Other Antiques' which I am completely unable to change. The edit does nothing. I have spoken to eBay, but the call was not helping my blood-pressure. I abandoned it and told them I was giving up selling on eBay, which I think I very well may do!

Before selling I check other similar items on ebay. Have they removed the 'sell similar item'  button?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Tried the "Have one to sell? Sell it yourself" link but very few items I need to sell are similar to existing listings, and the link just takes you to the same sort of template, with more details to change. I regret now having attempted to create a 'basic' template with the 'other antiques' category embedded (which I am not sure I have ever used!), but can find no way of deleting the template!

Edit 13:27: Have managed to delete the template, but still cannot find a way of listing in anything but 'Other Antiques' except using GDB2222's suggestion. eBay just gets dafter and dafter.

Are you going through the 'list an item' on your dashboard? - there are different views of the page aft that but all my accounts do show a search box with 'tell us what you're selling ' or clickable links to either use a template or complete a previous draft. Do you only get a template option and nothing else?

Thanks. The "Tell us what you're selling" route might work. I just have never  tried it before. It does seem some options open up when eBay cannot find anything to match. Will give it a try, but too late to try it today.

The 'tell us what you are selling' is the standard listing tool. Just put in something basic like 'history book' and it will firstly bring up some suggestions (which are rubbish) but go to bottom of page and click on continue without match that brings up a  selling page based on the nearest category. Always check the category though as sometimes ebay does seem to go a bit weird

I haven't been on ebay for ages. Are you still allowed to design your own listing with an option for HTML code?

I never used "Tell us what you are selling", though on thinking about it, I guess it was always there. I always worked out what category I needed beforehand and used 'browse categories' or 'recently used categories'.

It does seem to be an available option, though have not had time yet to try it 'for real'. I always did use HTML.
