Think of heat as though it were money - which it is!
Every time you use electricity/gas/oil you pay for, think of it as actual cash. Would you wipe your bottom with £5 notes? Well why send cash down the drain in other ways?
Are you having a shower over your bath? Put the plug in. Your feet will be warmer (and maybe cleaner) and the heat you've paid for isn't, literally, going down the drain. This may also work if you have a shower tray you can plug the drain on, but don't let it overflow and cause expensive damage. Lots of tips tell you to only boil the water you need in a kettle, but saving the heat from other hot water could save loads more.
Hard core, cold water shower enthusiasts I salute you, but I don't want to be you.
Of course if you have damp/condensation issues this might not be right for you.
Other ideas
Don't tip your washing up basin out until the water is cold.
Dry your hair in the room you are going to spend the next few hours in.
Take cold water washing machine cycles seriously - lots of old ideas are out there - you "must" wash your towels/ sheets at 60 degrees. Every time? I think not.
Bottom line: every time you turn anything on think about where the heat goes. Pretty much all electricity/gas/oil turns into heat. If you are wealthy ,save it for the planet, if not, save it for your pocket.

I use an air fryer now, but when I was using an oven, I'd always leave the door open after use.0

"Dry your hair in the room you are going to spend the next few hours in."
Same for any ironing (if you feel you must)😉How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.43% of current retirement "pot" (as at end September 2024)0 -
Always pass wind in the room you are likely to be in for a few hours.
"Less than 1 percent of their makeup is what makes farts stink. The temperature of a fart at time of creation is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Farts have been clocked at a speed of 10 feet per second. A person produces about half a liter of farts a day"2 -

(great excuse to tell the mother in law i'm not a hapless housewife. i'm saving money!!)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.7 -

Why? Where did you think any residual heat went if you didn't leave the door open after use.
how much of it would be trapped in the cuboards and in the oven itself then if the kitchen/oven is on an outside wall how much would be lost outside vs heating the air in the home?
much more efficient (and money saving) i think to open the door and let it circulate where it can rase the air temp and maybe means the thermostat kicks off a little sooner.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

The heat needed to evaporate standing water is wasted unless it causes condensation somewhere else. Make sure you empty the bath before the water reaches room temperature. Try to sweep standing water in the shower tray down the drain. Keep the toilet lid closed.Reed2
