Royal Mail online postage forcing collection

I’m trying to buy postage online for a parcel I’m planning to drop off at a parcel postbox but the website is automatically selecting the collection option and won’t let me remove it. When I select the postage option (either second class or tracked 48) it says I can drop off the parcel but as I work through the details I can’t remove collection.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I’ve tried on both my phone and laptop but they’re both the same.

If you go to the final confirmation screen you can remove the collection option before paying.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It will go into the basket as two items- collection and parcel.
You then have the option to delete either item, so the collection can be removed.3 -
Thanks very much soolin and KxMx. What a strange way of doing it!1

That tripped us up too, for a bit.
More annoyingly last night it wasn't working, an item had to go by Special Delivery today and cost a whole £1 extra at the Post Office because the stupid RM site wasn't working. (We tried 3 different devices, 2 browsers, 2 cards and PayPal. It just wouldn't process payment. It was something that could have been collected from home today, so not only an extra £1 but a trip to the PO on top.)1 -

I've got the same problem and have tried through Click & Drop and my business account, but the only option avaiable is collection, which I don't want. You cannot change it from collection to drop off. I have a huge backlog of parcels due to the cyber attack and am getting very pee'd off with the RM system. At this rate, I will be losing a lot of sales to cancellations and refunds! My local Post Office are not very pleased with the loss of business either. Is RM trying to force everyone online in order to cut out the Post Offices?0

When I go to the page to pay, the postage and collection are listed separately and there is an option to delete by each item. Just delete the collections if you don't need them, pay, print the labels and take the parcels to a PO or RM delivery office.

On the RM site you just remove it from the final screen before you pay - as per earlier posts on this thread.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
