Had my first sachet of Magnesium last night and I felt my muscles relax and I did not wake up until 6.30 that is a record for me. No muscle pain wow could be a fluke but will continue with the trial ones for now. Full price is £69 bimonthly that does seem a lot but it taste good but this is MSE.

Got quite a bit of work to do today. DG has doctors and private physio so that is good. She is off the pain killers and out of pain. I am still going to the gym tonight but I am almost packed so that is not so bad.

I have got a bit of a presentation at work today but only 5min so it will be fine. Hopefully I will get time to reply to the danish association before we go on holiday at least find out the charges for financial advice before we move.

    Right back to work.

Morning only got to sleep until 4.30 this morning still longer than the 2am slot I usually wake up. The magnesium is still helping the hips but they were sore at 4.30 but I had been to the gym. DG saw the GP and the physio she is going to pay for a MRI scan in Jan £300 via the physio as the GP could not really offer anything but physio which is fine as she is not in pain. She feels better so fingers crossed for a good holiday.

Packed and almost ready as I obviously have to work today. I do not have a lot to finish just a presentation for a meeting this evening just before we go. We should still have a viewing at 6pm but lets see I missed a call from the estate agent last night.

Put on a bit of weight not good and next week is not going to be great. I will try and hopefully they will have some aqua aerobics or something I can do. Might help a bit but I do also want to chill out.

Going to have egg and toast then fish cake and veg for lunch. Dinner will be hummus and bits for the hotel tonight avoiding the airport. We are taking a bottle of wine and then we have free airport lounge with Amex if we can get in in the morning. Flight is not until 11am so not too early a start as we are staying up there.

Credit card will be £800 this month but that is after I get paid and I have enough in my current account for the rest of this month so no need to raid the savings. Joint account not looking too bad either and we will not be eating at home now for a week.

Just need to remember to order Asda for delivery when we are back and also choose the Oddbox we want as that gets delivered on the Friday after we are back.

  • All action over here, have a great trip.

That 45% Danish tax rate on pensions sound painful, maybe an isa would be better or a mix.

Sorry to hear re your mum and DG not being well. My mum loves taking turmeric she has found it has hugeLy helped with her knee pain - its great for inflammation - might be worth a try for DG?

    That beach house is lovely

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I've heard good things about turmeric too.

On the MRI if DG is paying privately anyway I'd have expected her to be able to get one within 1-2 weeks.

Good your accounts are balanced again.

Morning first day back at work and inbox is not looking too bad except I booked a train an hour earlier than I needed to for my meeting Weds. Still I can mooch around for a bit in the big smoke before we start and who knows the trains might be late.

Holiday was really good and I only put on a couple of pounds as we missed breakfast most days and just had lunch and dinner. Lots of drinks but it did wear off later in the week. We did a 1/2 day city trip which was well worth it (£30 each) and also a Hamman massage which was amazing. DG nearly died as it was naked lol.

We also did quad biking as DG has wanted to do this forever. We went with a recommended trip organiser which was so much cheaper than the TUI one. We only had 1 bike as I did not want to ride it and it was £50 for 2 instead of £68 per person with TUI. I did get to ride and it was fun. I think we spent about £50 more than planned and had to bring some currency back as they did not take it at the airport. I am glad we brought £ with us Euro's are also ok. I would definitely go back to Morocco so interesting and although Arab no issues with being same sex. Only downside is they do not believe in neutering animal so too many sick cats running around and kittens too. Not nice we took cat food with us but as I said the sick ones you cannot do anything about. Lots of people where feeding them. Weather was really hot when we got there 30 and then dropped to 25 then about 23 so we did the pool and beach at the beginning then trips out. I do love the heat of Gambia but would not go back not this was better and just need to time when you go.

I messed up DGs injection on Thursday when we got back but they are sending her a new pen free of charge luckily. We did struggle with that pen when it arrived so maybe it wasn't just me. Still an expensive mistake to make if they did not credit you with another. DGs knee was ok and the Hamman massage actually made it better. She has booked in with a consultant and an MRI scan so we can move on with this. It will be a fair amount of money if she needs the operation but so far will be good to know what is wrong. Can't wait to live in a country where there is a treatment guarantee. You can literally look at a government list of when you can expect a certain treatment and if they miss that timescale you can get it done privately and paid by the state. As I was typing that she got a cancellation for MRI and is going this morning. The Monjaro also arrived and we have successfully done it. All credit to Medexpress very good service.

I am looking forward to seeing my team on Weds and then we are off to do the Mystery Shop hotel on Friday. DG and I will work in her new employers offices and then chill for the weekend before working again on Monday. I kind of regret having it so soon but cannot be helped. December will be busy too so we are not going to book anything else now as I also have some other work trips coming up.

I have seen a few interests rates drop so will take a proper look if my stuff is in the right accounts still. Also need to decide on the Premium bonds if I move them or not. I have earned £750 this year but £900 last year and I have added £6000 this year. Right be get into work finally.

I know have new insoles proper ones made to measure he said my old ones were aspirin when I needed morphine. £565 well spent and any follow up is free now until they fit properly. Feel good already and hopefully I can avoid surgery for a long time. He did say to buy new trainers they are only a year old but I feel I should actually as I have worn them a lot.

I have downloaded my Octo code for a free coffee tomorrow I did not realise you could do it in advance to make sure they do not run out as that happened last time to me. I have an hours wait before my meeting so perfect to have a posh free coffee in the warmth. Very handy there is on right next to my office.Obviously there will be a hunt to get a Costa on expenses but sometimes that does not work out so we shall see.

Got a meeting at 11am I need to prep for.

Great day in the big smoke and lovely seeing the rest of the team. Got a little bit delayed on the way up but still had enough time to sit and enjoy my NERO (free from Octo) and afterwards I got a "free" Costa on expenses before travelling back. Lunch and breakfast was provided and even got a posh Pret fruit cup to take home. Did eat far too much but difficult when it was so nice (all from Pret) which we do not have around where I live.

It is snowing today and settling so rare down here. I have already been out to get cash for the cleaner it is quite a cheap month this one as we had one cancelled and she owed us one so only had to pay for 2 weeks this month.

Spoke to my mum last night she is not going to send us a Danish scratch card advent calendar she has been doing this for all the time I have lived in the UK but it has become so expensive to post and she feels it is time to stop. I am 54 after all lol. She is going to pay for us to buy some UK ones lets see if National Lottery do them this year.

She nearly adopted a puddle but said no, I think she might have said no if I have been around at least I will be next year. Also next year I can buy my own Danish Advent calendar.

In other exciting news we got a letter from the estate agent confirming the house is off the market but that we still have two interested parties who still needs to sell. Out of interest I checked out the one I have worked out which house they own and it is STC I was in chock. I am trying not to be excited as they might have found something else. I have emailed the estate agent in case they have not spotted this as I would have assumed they would have looked themselves or at least spoken to them saying they can still buy ours even if it is off the market. Our estate agent was convinced they would not get full asking price for theirs even after reducing it by £10K. Obviously they need to be able to afford ours with the mortgages the way they are. I am trying not to get excited as it could also mean us moving in April which is a bit too quickly. I have found a firm that can advice us on the buying process and also translate the legal documents so DG can understand it all. I do not know what they charge but it is too soon to look into things right now so I am speaking to them again in the Spring.

Nothing will come on the market now in Denmark before Christmas and there is currently nothing I am interested in. We did look at one online today and even DG agrees it is too big. That is a first from DG but I think you will agree and the work that is needed is massive plus it is a high price.

Busy day workwise today actually busy week next week too. Got all the projects booked in now and ready to start so it is going to be busy.

We are away on the mystery shop break tomorrow so a lot to sort out beforehand. I need breakfast first my trusted SlimFast will do.
