    Snap. While I plan to keep myself imformed, I'm not about to start jerking my knee and running around in a blind panic because I LOVE my house and the fact that we can make it our own. We bought it 6k under market value at the time and can comfortably afford our mortgage repayments. Perhaps further down the line if we need to relocate/desparately need more space, we'll reassess the situation.

    We will buy when we can afford something halfway decent in our completely mediocre, middle of the road area. For that to happen, prices need to drop at least 20%.

  • I don`t know if you are aware that libor is falling quickly and also interest rates are very likely to be reduced again next month. The house market will start flying again in early spring and it will very soon be a sellers market once more

    why do people suddenly think the banks will turn the taps back on for easy credit again ?

    they've been badly burned once, and needed serious intervention on a way not seen in a generation if not longer. They won't be so quick to throw money at anyone with a pulse in the near future.

    The banks aren't just going to lend credit out willy nilly this time round. I wish we'd see an interest rate hike. Got to keep inflation down and the interest on my savings up as high as possible.

    Why not? They have been for years despite the memory of the last crash. Never underestimate the stupidity of economists when they see a bandwagon. Don't think it will lead to a boom though; people have finally decided not to pay silly prices for rubbish.

    Why are some of you guys bnot posting on the house price crash forum? I am trying to post reasonable posts against the fact that the housing market is not likely to collapse on there but I am only encountering people who want to misquote me and tell me how wrong i am and that we are all heading for a shock becasue we are lucky enought to own houses and they aren't. I could do with some support on their guys as the battle is very onesided! :( Did they manage to bully you all of there to as they get sooooo agressive if you disagree with the common opinion on there that the housing market is going to collapse?

    I put Other as we are also currently looking.

    We have just sold our suburban house and have rented a place in a more rural area. We're new to the area, so we wanted to rent first to see if we like living around here.

    Well, we do like it but see no need to rush into buying anything. None of the houses for sale locally have really grabbed us so far.

    We will probably be looking more seriously in January.
