The Qualifying Date for the Winter Fuel Allowance for State Pensioners has always been in September every year.angei010 said:talk about confusing. last year the government announced that all pension households will get £300 cost of living allowance. All pension households and it will be paid with your Winter Fuel allowance, I became a pensioner in November last year and was not elligable for Winter Fuel Allowance as the cut off was September. Although i am a pensioner since November does that mean i will not get it. can not find the answer anywhere.

As you were not a State Pensioner in September 2022 then you wouldn't have received the normal £200 (£300 for over 80's) and wouldn't have received the additional £300 either in the Winter of 2022/23.
However in September 2023 you WILL be a State Pensioner and so you will receive the £500 in the Winter of 2023/24."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."

Eligibility guidance is on gov.uk......you need to have been born before 26.9.56 to get the 2022 payment.

The new £900 cash boost for over eight million eligible means-tested benefits claimants, including those on Universal Credit, Pension Credit and tax credits, starts in Spring and will go direct to bank accounts in three payments over the course of the financial year. There will also be a separate £150 for over six million disabled people and £300 for over eight million pensioners on top of their Winter Fuel Payments."
Scroll down to the first 2 paragraphs after the first lot of bullet points. I was surprised also to see it.
