Obtaining new mobile contract on DRO
Hi all. I broke my phone some time ago and have been borrowing one from a family member, and my provider is now saying I’m due for an upgrade. It would be nice to get my own phone and give back the one I’ve borrowed. Would taking out this credit effect my DRO? I understand you have to tell the lender about it, if you obtain credit over £500. Is this the only stipulation? That the lender needs to know?

Hi fatbelly, thanks for getting back to me. I checked this with both StepChange and National debtline. I’m going to go for it - regain a bit of independence! Will report back whether I’m approved.0

The Insolvency Service will have no interest in your phone contract.
Well done1 -
Yes, there's very little you can do to screw up a DRO as long as you stay within the basic criteria0
