Chrome not working

I have a laptop running windows 11 it’s an MSI GF65 it’s got all the relevant updates. I have downloaded Chrome but it will not open, when I click on it the screen briefly refreshes and nothing happens. I have tried re-downloading I have checked anti virus and that’s not blocking it, I have tried suggested comparability changes and that has no effect. I am now stumped. I can’t even find any similar issues online. My only thought is somehow Microsoft making it tricky so you use Edge but I need chrome for a website that does not load properly in Edge. Any suggestions I may not have tried yet? Tried running as administrator but same issue screen briefly flashes but won’t open

Windows will certainly make it plain that it would prefer you to only use Edge but I've never come across a situation where it will actually stop Chrome installing/running. 

Pretty sure there was a very important legal case about 3rd party browsers being allowed on Windows back in Ye Olden Days.

Two things you always do with profile based browsers when they don't work:

That and disable/remove any extensions, though it doesn't sound like you can get that far.

Are you using an external monitor?

I've had programs just exit immediately without any error messages when attached to an external monitor.

Also happens when the disc is full.
