Would I lose ESA if I moved in with parents

Purely hypothetical at this stage but I’m curious.
Currently live alone and in receipt of:
PIP
income based ESA
housing benefits
council tax benefits
obviously would lose the housing/council tax part and I know PIP is safe. Just wondering what would happen to ESA? Although they wouldn’t expect rent per se I’d be expected to contribute towards the household and certainly to fund myself and my dog.

Please no judgement in comments. I’m just looking for those in the know.

Much as I like brevity things are rarely simple. No you will not lose your ESA. However the amount you receive may change.
As you currently live alone are you getting a Severe Disability Premium (SDP)? If so, you will lose the SDP unless both your parents also receive disability benefits.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.3 -
Another thought would be if you did move in with your parents, if you moved out you would need to claim UC if it involves rent.

Ah yes I do currently get the SDP and I believe moving to their county would change me to universal credit? So I’ve no idea what I’d get then

No, moving to another local authority does not mean that your ESA ends. If you needed to claim rent you would need to claim UC and that would end your income based ESA.Ygritte said:Ah yes I do currently get the SDP and I believe moving to their county would change me to universal credit? Because you intend to live with your parents you will not be claiming UC and therefore your ESA will continue. As noted if you then later move out from your parents and need to claim rent you would need to claim UC.
If you live with your parents you will lose the SDP unless both your parents get a disability benefit themselves and there are no other adults living there not receiving disability benefits.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Oh that’s really helpful- thank you!0
