Samsung z flip 4

Options
I am looking to buy a second hand Samsung z flip 4 as I hate big phones and that one folds up so you can get it in a pocket.
I have seen some advertised with a charger, would that be a charger to plug into electric?  If so, I probably have no need to pay extra for one as I can probably plug it into an normal usb plug.
Is it easy to get rid of all the rubbish that Samsung put on?  I have a Samsung Note which I hate because it is always coming up with screens I don't want, so much so that I have abandoned it and went back to my old Samsung S4 mini which I love but is now coming to the end of it's life, keeps freezing, short of space, calls go through 3g which is being phased out this year, apparently according to Voda, you will still be able to call and receive calls but through 2G which they say won't be reliable.

Not sure what other sort of charger there is other than an electric one. The Z Flip 4 will charge either via a USB-C charger or using a wireless charger.

Samsung's UI does seem to, er, divide opinion. I really like it but then I'm a geek. Other UI's are available but they are really just replacing what you see rather than replacing the actual underlying interface. Have you looked at Motorola's flip phone? The Android implementation is much closer to stock than Samsung's.

What rubbish are you referring to?? Not sure how a phone gives you screens you don't want, perhaps a more detailed explanation?

I think they mean the extra software, or "bloatware", that tends to come with some of the makes of phone, particularly Android ones. These can, by and large, be deleted or disabled in the settings. I don't use most of them but I do like Samsung's browser, calendar and calculator, so I keep those.

To the OP, you won't get a charger in the box. You will have to buy this separately, if you don't have one already, or possibly some resellers might be bundling one with the phone when you buy it. You will, however, get a charging cable in the box, if that is what you are referring to. It will be of the USB-C type.
Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.

Yes, I did realise that he was probably referring to bloatware, but, there isn't much on Samsung phone really, only their own browser etc, some of which is removable. More of a concern would be the random pages that seem to just appear and annoy....It's never happened on any of my Samsung phones including the Note9.
Looks like he might already have a charger....

I bought the Flip 4.  I did get a charger with it along with the charging cable.  The charger doesn't have a usb port, it takes a double ended type c cable.  So need to buy a cable which has a USB at one end and the C type at the other so it will charge from my car and the power banks I have.
Can anyone tell me where to find the torch?  I know it has one as I was shown it on but didn't think to ask where it would be.

"OK Google (or "Hi Bixby"),  "Turn on torch" or "Turn on flashlight"

The Harry Potter spell, "Lumos" may also work.

Thankfully Google are making it harder for the likes of Samsung to modify too much of the UI so there is not as much crapware as there used to be. Use a Pixel and you will still see how much there is though.

It was one of the reasons it would take Samsung so long to be able to release Android updates in good time. It is slowly getting better but still a way to go over the next 3-4 versions to really separate the skin from the OS. Once they get this all done, hopefully all manufacturers will be able to support phones for longer (although Samsung is one of the best on the newer phones like the flip for this as it is).

There isn't much choice out there for flip phones yet so putting up with the Samsung UI may be the compromise that the OP will need to make. It seems like the hinges and screen folds are meeting the test of time which is good.
