Won't the blackbox record speed, acceleration and any lateral g-force if cornering?...Which should give a good indication of the manner of her driving right up to the point of impact?

It'd certainly show if she tried to avoid the impact or not, but it won't be as clear cut as where the cars were at the impact. For it to have been head on, one of the cars must have been in the wrong place.
