Have just done an audit of what is in my freezer and reckon that supplemented with minimum of fresh bought veg and a bit of creative thinking, enough to keep me going for weeks with minimal new spending. My January challenge is to eat that frozen money and save ££s.

Welcome to the MSE forums scrimptosave  :)

I need to do that, do I need to do that. My freezer is choc-a-bloc and a third of it is ice. Why do I keep buying more food when I've got nowhere to put it.  :/

Need to do this, and run down the cupboards.

Might do it whilst I've got asda rewards and tesco vouchers to use up.

When just wait for the next cold snap and defrost it then. I did mine last month when the temps were below zero- no chance of it thawing out, out in the garden piled in grocery bags!!
... good thinking, only trouble is my freezer is in a shed and the control is iced up, but I could bring it indoors !  :)

I have a wipeboard on my fridge with fridge & freezer contents written on, I just rub off as and when it’s used so I always know exactly what’s in both.
... you are so clever  :)

  • I typed out my freezer lists and stuck them on the fridge and cross out and write on when it changes but whiteboards would be easier.  How are they attached?  I think I would need larger whiteboards as there is so much in the the two freezers.

Try Amazon for magnetic whiteboards with pens.

    Because it’s a bargain. 😀
Freezer Tetris is currently my daily activity of choice.

Mines a floppy magnetic one that I got from Amazon as opposed to a rigid one so it clings to the fridge perfectly x

I keep the contents of my chest freezer in a database - it might be a bit much for some, but a spreadsheet or simple digital list would work too. If you're like me and have a tablet or phone with you most of the time, it's a free way of keeping track. I plan ahead and defrost the night before, so I update it all then.
