Thanks for all your lovely comments. Will post properly tomorrow. Today's kind of been eclipsed by the fact that Mr F (who generally has the constitution of an ox) has gone down with Covid.

Hello Frugal Diary Friends,
Before I launch into today's post, I must just answer @BrilliantButScary 's question about my new sewing machine model. I bought the Brother HF37 "Strong & tough" & although I have only tested out stitches & bits & bobs on it so far, it defo skids around a lot less than my old much lighter one.
Thanks so much for all your kind wishes to the Coviddy One. He was quite touched to get so many kind thoughts sent his way. He's currently watering the garden for some fresh air & is feeling better than yesterday. He is planning on calling into work very early tomorrow (before his staff turn up) to fetch his work laptop then to work from home. I think this is a MUCH better idea than his orignal one which was that he would go into work as normal. Told him he is almost certainly still infectious & none of his team want covid for the bank holiday...or indeed at all. Also compromised on the grocery shopping which he said he'd be fine to pick up as usual tomorrow night. I insisted on doing an online order, as he has no idea how he'll be feeling by then. The thing with viruses is that one can start to feel one has turned a corner, then the next day, it's back to feeling yuk. I also thought that if I go down with it (no symptoms yet) then I shan't feel like trudging around the supermarket either.
OK, that's the Plague House dealt with......onto today's budget helping activities:
*Planted front courtyard borders with cosmos which I grew from free & saved seed. Ditto annual lavatera & a nice plant my sister gave me from her garden.
*Sprinkled a free packet of cornflower seed amongst them. If they grow, then great, if not, I've lost nothing.
*Started courgettes & squash on the hardening-off process.
*Did next week's meal plans.
*Wrote grocery shopping list & placed an online order. Was able to use all 4 money-off vouchers this week.
*Picked a lettuce - a very free one indeed, as it was one which self-seeded from last year.
*Easy-peasy nosebag tonight - the remaining 2 portions of the pav bhaji I made recently with home made bread rolls & a big salad.
*Water all veg, containers & young bedding plants (Mr F has just finished this task & said it used up all his energy, which is proof that he is nowhere near better yet!)
*Continued unpicking the seams of my torn linen dress to use as a pattern. Have now done all of the front & made a start on the back.
*Did 2 pieces of financial admin.
*Wrote a list for town on Friday so as to make best use of the parking charge.
*Have had the swift out for yarn-winding so am intending to cast on a pair of pink-mauve dip-dyed sock loveliness for myself as I don't currently have any 'TV knitting' on the go. I haven't been on any naughty little trippettes to yarn shops - this was a gift for my birthday last year.
I think that's it for today.....I have achieved Day 27 of my "I will not be sedentary' steps streak. Soot achieved Day 1227 of serious all-morning biscuit pesters. Everywhere I went to put my feet, there he was grumbling about the state of his bowl, when he'd had just as much breakfast as everybody else.
Looking forward to a bubble bath & hair wash later - I can't seem to do anything in the garden without getting soil in my hair.
Really hoping that tomorrow's post isn't going to start with an announcement that I have the lergy - still symptom-free at the moment (Mr F almost certainly infected on Friday afternoon while on a training course) so fingers crossed. Have had windows & doors open today to have plenty of air circulating.
Love to all.....& keep it in your purse!
F x
