I'm reading a book that has 7 cats in it. What can I say, other than there may be the odd "EAT" missing.

Morning Campers & thanks for your comments. I love the cartoon & yes, I'm sure Soot could manage an extra couple of insertions of the word 'Eat'!
Well, I had better get moving, because like an idiot, I pinged a 7-day steps challenge to Mr F last night to commence this morning. One of those things which felt like a good idea at the time.
Ah well, off I go!

Hello Monday Money-Savers,
I had such plans for today but either the time seems to have disappeared ceremoniously up its own wot-not, or the amount of stuff I thought I'd get done was unrealistic. I suspect a bit of both, but fear not, as tomorrow is another day!
Anyway. the budget-helping aspects of today, such as they are:
*Did a few surveys - the most useful was one which took me to about 2 points away from cash-out so I shall be back on that tomorrow to see if I can get them.
*Our fish box arrived so I portioned it up & froze. Also a decent sized box of trimmings & oddments which will make a nice big fish pie at some point which will do us a couple of days.
*Made a double batch of Cranks' tomato soup with the tomatoes I prepped the other day. Had some for my lunch, left some in the fridge for this week & froze the rest.
*Took another 200g ripe tomatoes out of the ripening bag to use in a tamale pie base tonight. A good way of getting a reasonably healthy filling meal from 100g of mince. Only requires half a tin of kidney beans so as there's another 100g of mince knocking around somewhere in the depths of the freezer, I froze the rest of the beans as that's the makings of another future meal.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & breakfast.
*Pegged out yesterday's laundry at first light & it was very nearly dry by the time I brought it in an hour ago. It's just having an hour on the heated airer to finish off. It won't need any more than that.
*Did a bit of make-do & mend.
*A little bit more present knitting.
*Free fitness lacing my boots on & going for a walk round the village. According to my fitness app, I am currently in the lead over Mr F in our 7-day steps challenge, but as he got to work this morning to find staff shortages, he may actually have forgotten about steps. I can certainly hope so! While the walk did increase my normal weekday level of steps, I haven't helped myself in another way. I wore my walking boots which are the ones I bought in lockdown & the leather never did stretch as I hoped it would once I was out & about wearing them. I keep trying them as they won't get stretched sitting on the shoe rack looking decorative, but my heel has rubbed to a blister today & so I may have hobbled myself for tomorrow. Boo to that! I can go for a walk in my everyday chunky boots which are roomier but I will almost certainly still feel the blister. I shall have to find some plasters & give it a try. Meanwhile, I can still add a few more steps onto today's count by going about in my socks!
I intended to do my usual Monday budget updates & a few other financials but ran out of time to apply myself properly. Have bumped to tomorrow when I also hope to get some garden tasks done too.
Enjoy your evenings, all.

Ummm … unless you can get those boots professionally stretched (does such a service exist?) please stop torturing yourself with them … hobbling with a blister affects your whole gait and will affect, your knees, hips, back, neck etc …. I speak from bitter experience having worn an ill fitting pair of boots around the 88 temple’s pilgrimage of Sasaguri in Japan … It takes quite a while to recover.KKAs at 15.07.25:

@KajiKita - They have been on the local cobbler's stretching machine. I have a little bump on my heel which is where they rub. I wore them for a walk around local-ish gorge recently & was fine. I'd got thicker socks on yesterday, thinking they'd protect my feet but they actually made things worse. I have a different pair on today, but despute cushioning blister, I'm not sure I can go for a decent walk without hobbling. Annoying as I'm about 1000 steps ahead of Mr F in our 7-day challenge, grrrrr.

I inherited my mums feet which were always dreadful and whilst expensive the specialist named brand blister plasters are in my view definitely worth the extra expense. I had to buy some at extortionate cost on a holiday in Spain as had forgotten to pack the ones I had bought and it allowed us to enjoy the rest of our holiday. Own brand imitations just not the same. I have leaned that money saving not the way to go when you can barely hobble6

I haven't tried those, @Tescodealqueen, so I will make sure to buy some when I'm next in town. My new chunky everyday boots don't usually rub my heel as there's plenty of room in them, but even they are not comfortable to wear today with a big blister. I agree that the expense will be worth it not to be hobbled.

I am simply one of those unfortunate people whose feet blister in a heartbeat - very annoying and apparently almost nothing that can be done to prevent it, so it makes buying shoes a proper faff, and even a pair which feel blissfully comfy in the shop can be rubbing within a few minutes of wearing them out in the wild!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
