Oh, forgot to say....thanks very much to all of you who recommended battery lawnmowers after our big petrol jobber carked it recently. We have been researching options & have ordered a battery model with a spare battery which we can pick up tomorrow on click & collect (thankfully before the grass gets too long from all this rain). They were more expensive than we have previously paid for lawnmowers but I spotted an offer code & although I thought it probably wouldn't turn out to be valid on what we wanted, it did apply, as it was a code for £50 off a minimum spend. So new lawnmower on its way & £50 of the cost will now be staying in the House & Garden Savings Pot. Mr F determined not to waste the petrol left in the old mower so I have volunteered to help him get it out. Yes, the glamour of my life! Glad I saved the plastic gloves from my last hair colouring session. I can't imagine it should be any more complicated than holding the petrol can while he lifts the mower up & tips it. As long as I make sure we don't have cat help. Soot likes helping. I'm sure he thinks it might make his dinnertime arrive more quickly or maybe that he'll earn a biscuit bonus.

You won’t be disappointed with your battery mower. We also have battery hedge trimmers and strimmer. So much easier.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

Hope you enjoy the new lawnmower. 😊
We had biblical levels of rain here last night - I was sat in a marquee, trying to listen to a folk duo in the chapel field next door (thankfully they had amplification!). Being determinedly positive about the fact that I have less watering to do this weekend as a result … 🙄🤷♀️ Could really do with some 🌞 now though, please ….

Well our garden looked like it had snowed ! Large hailstones, thunder and rain, just after bright sunshine so a glorious rainbow too. Flaming June! Not sure what’s going on7

Not boring at all. I have lots of savings pots but you have inspired me to create an Opera pot to cover the costs of my trips to Leeds to Opera North. I now budget for the tickets as well as a nice meal and the cost of the Travelodge if I need it for an evening performance.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Hi Saturday Savers,
Thanks for all your comments. I agree entirely about the weather. I was sure there was a bit of hail pinging around yesterday too.
@KajiKita - I have spent plenty of time sitting in soggy folk festival tents & on one occasion, I recall watching as an ingress of water pooled & began running underneath the canvas towards my chair. Another year, I had to wear my emergency supermarket bag for life on my head!
@thriftmonster - That's a good idea. We love going to see ON but we don't need to travel to Leeds as they perform 2 or 3 seasons a year in our nearest big city, which means expensive parking, but no overnight stay as we are only around 18 miles away. So nice to save for these things so we can enjoy going without guilt.
Any budget-friendly stuff today? A few. I did stock up my toiletries stash in town but that will come from my Personal Spends, so is budget-neutral.
*Collected new lawnmower & still feeling pleased that the offer got us £50 off.
*Collected our meat order from the butcher. Not only was it free because we had a fully-stamped loyalty card (which means we can have £10 of free meat) but when Mr F weighed it out to marinate for the recipe he's making tomorrow, there was almost twice as much as he needed, so he's frozen the rest for a further meal at some point.
*And a little chocolatey heads-up.....our local C**p was selling 80p chocolate bars (of the purple brand) for 38p. In date, so can only assume it was the no-longer-relevant football edition wrapper. I couldn't give a u-know-wot about football, but I do like bargainaceous chocolate, so we bought a bar each.
*Picked another bowl of strawberries, just washed by a heavy rain shower. They will do us dessert tonight with a spoonful of kefir for those of us who are not kefir scaredy-pants. Could have picked double. Think I might make some strawberry compote for the freezer tomorrow or Monday. It will be nice on rice pudding, ice cream & oats.
*Start reading next library book - the latest Sebastian Faulkes novel.
Well, Mr F has just brought me a glass of red from that freebie l/o bottle he brought home from work earlier this week, so although it is only 4.30pm, I am relaxing nicely into the evening.
Wishing everyone a pleasant Saturday,
F x
