I've been watching the flooding news and inspecting my stream avidly as well! The place I have moved to appears to be one giant puddle at the moment, although thankfully my house is safe enough.
Your posts about knitting always make me want to start again, but its difficult with a dog who sees yarn and immediately steals it to play with! So I had a look online for a ceramic yarn pot, and they look fine but the lids come off which will be no good, and they are around £20. So I am taking a leaf out of your diary title and trying to be resourceful.
I *think* I'll be able to put a hole in a metal biscuit/chocolate tin, and wrap it with something smooth so the yarn doesn't catch and that might work... I won't be able to try it for a few days as the biscuit tin I am thinking about still has biscuits in it, but I'll let you know how I get on
Live the good life where you have been planted.

We do love reading about your flooding in the village FG, I'm sure others are interested, I know I certainly am. I always try and work out exactly where you live...lol. I know you are Midlands...ish, but now you mentioned the A1 being south of you, I think you are possibly north of me and possibly more towards the east. so I'm thinking maybe near somewhere beginning with an N or possibly a bit further west towards D...I do love a puzzle
It is lovely to get back into routines isn't it? Wish I was. Still have DH off sick as we are still struggling with this horrible covid. He says he hopes he will feel well enough to go back to work on Friday, depending on test result and how he feels. I am just thankful I don't work as its taking me about 2 hours to wak up properly in the mornings and still ready for bed again by 8pm, and that's without doing anything....lol.

Whilst I am never likely to flood being some way up a hill. About 2 miles away there was a serious flood a couple of years ago & I think we all know that things have got worse. It is good to get a heads up on these things.

The weather is awful here (SW) and there is water everywhere, lots of flooded roads, but our house is at the top of a hill, thank goodness!@Elisheba if your biscuit tin idea doesn't work, how about one of this tins used for garden string? You may already have one, but if not they are much cheaper than a ceramic wool container, I am sure.9

@Elisheba - there are also cloth holders that zip shut such as this one - I got a similar one with a knitting magazine years ago & love it!

When I’m travelling I sometimes use a zip lock bag as it keeps my wool clean when rolling around the well of a car, or train floor. I do love those material yarn caddies too 👍. Start your Christmas wish list in January 🤣🤣7

We have been unable to use our local green area for dog walking for about 3 weeks now. I am very unstable on soggy ground especially as there are holes under the grass just right for causing me to fall. The ground today has lying water on it and I notice when we were out the drainage ditches are full.

I was back in the office today and I’ve never seen the canal so high! We live in a very hilly area but on the flat at the top of a hill and it’s getting to the stage where there are large pools of water everywhere.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7
