Thanks all. I was an hour late going in, which with the 42-mile round trip, has made me feel really tired now. Appointment went well. I had made lots of notes to take in with me & was well-prepared. It was a mixture of good & bad. No immediate plans for surgery atm. We are going to see how I manage things, but I was left in no doubt that I will very likely need it in time. The important thing is to try & avoid further flare-ups. I haven't had another since I was ill back in Spring & I was told that I am taking the right approach. I've been reading up on anti-inflammatory foods & trying all sorts of things & the Registrar I saw did say that I'm doing all the right things. I think I will take things a day at a time.
Your kind wishes were much appreciated. Thank-you.

Well that sounds quite positive. It’s good there’s no need for immediate action. Hopefully you can hold it at bay for a considerable length of time.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

@milann - Thanks, yes it definitely is, as I can be a shocking over-thinker. Looking forward to some TV, therapeutic cat-stroking & an early night now.
More kitchen witchery planned for tomorrow while listening to my audiobook.

Just popping in as I saw an article in The Guardian this morning about feeding cats a veggie diet and thought you’d find it interesting: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/sep/13/cats-may-get-health-benefits-from-vegan-diet-study-suggests?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
It’s this sort of continually changing advice that made me give up on reading it for my health though and instead decided to apply my own common sense years ago!

Anti inflammatory foods can be a great help with all sorts. DH suffers from a condition that is helped by eating the right thing and even Osteoarthritis can be helped by eating anti inflammatory foods. Trouble is the medical profession don't always tell us these things and we have to research it all our selves. A good nutritionist is useful as well, although they aren't cheap to consult, but can be very helpful.
Hope the day of kitchen witchery goes well. I love listening to podcasts etc when working in the kitchen. Think I might bake later, to use up some bits which need getting rid of.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Glad the appointment went well Foxgloves - being prepared definitely helps. Cat stroking also definitely helps so pleased to hear you employed that approach - I imagine the cats were also pleased about this!
Generally - on the subject of nutrition, just be sure that the advice you are reading comes from an actually qualified person - in the UK that is a Registered Dietician or a Nutritionist registered with the AfN (which maintains a voluntary register to help weed out the quacks from those with genuine knowledge) - unfortunately for every bit of good solid advice out there there is also another half dozen or more from people who are simply trying to peddle their own agenda. It's a bit of a minefield but some of the poor information can actually be harmful, so it's very well worth really curating your "go to" people and websites for solid reliable information on these sorts of things. The medical profession if we are talking in terms of GPs often "don't tell us these things" because they themselves don't have the right qualifications to do so - so in that case it's a good thing. If you or someone you are close to does indeed have a health condition where the diet they eat is a proven part of controlling symptoms however, it's entirely appropriate to ask to be put on the referral list for an NHS dietician referral - and people should definitely explore that route although yes, it may take a while!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
