I have my granny's old wooden rolling pin - not sure it would be possible to break that! You might also try vintage shops for a 'new' one. In our local one, there is a nice wooden one for £4.8

I have a pyrex one that can be filled with ice to make it cold for pastry. I bought it for my bottom drawer in about 1972 and has been used ever since.

I have one of those too. So glad I'm not the only one as whenever I have mentioned it people give me the "what on earth is she talking about" look.

My older sister got married in 1973 and had a 'bottom drawer', so that takes me back. I'm a similar vintage to @foxgloves, and by the time I got married didn't have a 'bottom drawer'. Wedding presents were very different then though, I had a pyrex mixing bowl and jug as a gift and they are still going strong many years later.ladyholly said:I have a pyrex one that can be filled with ice to make it cold for pastry. Just on the rolling pin, I usually can’t be bothered to roll out shortbread and simply press it straight into a lined tin with my hands. Always comes out fine.2025 decluttering: 5,658 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 540🥉🥈🥇💎🏆 👑Big kitchen declutter challenge 146/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5009

Those pyrex bowls & jugs are great. Mine are 55 years old now & I have no idea how many house moves. A couple look a bit scuffed due I think to the dishwasher but they are still in very regular use.

Late to the party re ironing but I walked into my uni hall of residence laundry room to find someone ironing her pants. I stood watching in silence...there simply were no words. Love Humdinger xx7

I love pyrex. My jug has been around for years & I have casserole dishes that must be over 25 years old now.
I remember the rolling pins that you filled with water, we used to have them when I did cookery O level in 1973.Making the debt go down and savings go up

My mum used to iron pants/socks/tea towels/dusters etc until she had an aneurism and brain surgery. Once she was better she asked Dad what in heavens name he was doing ironing it all….(he had no clue and just did it all because she used to). she still doesn’t believe she ever did it, swears blind she’d not have wasted her time doing it.9

Shuffles in sheepishly to say I still do (apart from the socks these days). I like ironing and it gives me a sense of order and I hate to go to bed in unironed sheetsJellytotts said:My mum used to iron pants/socks/tea towels/dusters etc until she had an aneurism and brain surgery.
