We pay virgin £99 a month and for that we get best internet, phone(which we don’t use) sky Chanel’s including sport and cinema and Netflix….in July it will go upto £139 which I won’t pay as I hate paying 99 but as we are a family of 5 and we do use it all I can’t get rid so hubby will have to haggis again…although I’m reading price rises are coming soon so I’ll see what happens then with this and our 5 mobile phone contracts 😱

Crikey, that's expensive! We pay £29.99 a month for house phone and broadband. No fancy fibre stuff as we're in the middle of nowhere, and doesn't include any TV. I always thought it was quite expensive but apparently not!

We're not in a fibre area and pay £20 a month so speeds are not brilliant but certainly fast enough for what we need.  That is for just broadband but we could plug in a phone if we wanted to but gave the landline up about 5 years ago as nobody ever phoned us on it and always called our mobiles!

We are with Plusnet and pay £24.94 per month, this is for fibre broadband and phone line.  OH works from home full time, the children are home-educated, so during the day we are often all using it simultaneously. In the evening we might all be watching a program together or we might all be doing our own thing watching tv/online gaming/podcasts/music... 


We don't make outgoing calls on our landline but we do receive calls from older relatives and as it isn't costing us any extra its not an issue. We will review this when our contract is up for renewal in the autumn.

I now pay £30 a month for my broadband only and £6 a month for my mobile. I got rid of my landline and tv package. I'm with vir#in

Applied to Octopus to switch gas and electric on Wednesday  and had an email this morning saying they have taken over and to send a meter reading!  How quick is that - absolutely brilliant.  Meters read and readings sent this morning so good riddance EDF.

Had an industrious day defrosting freezers and listing all the contents, so meal planning is easier.  Batch cooked some red cabbage to portion & put in freezer.  Feel more in control when I have my lists.  😊

Morning all,
I'll reply properly tomorrow. Just wanted to report that Mr F's very long wait in the live-chat queue yesterday did pay off with VM. We'd been paying an eye-watering £43.50, which he had intended for a while to tackle, but kept forgetting about it. The email about the coming price increases informed us it would be going up by £7, so that would be £50.50 pm.just for broadband!! Absolutely outrageous price.
Anyway......he discovered they have a different package for even faster broadband (ours was a v good speed) for £30 a month so he asked to be moved onto that. The advisor started asking questions about how he intended to use broadband & Mr F said that's irrelevant as our issue isn't with the speed or the service, but that we absolutely REFUSE to pay £50 a month so change it or lose us. Long pause from advisor then he returned & said that he could see we have been loyal customers & so he could offer us the £30 package for 18 months with a £6 monthly discount for loyalty, so we will be paying £24 per month. He also said that as this is a new contract, the coming price rises won't apply to it, which I hope is the case & will be watching dd collection amounts carefully.
So that was a good result. The £26-50 per month saving on what we'd have been paying if we'd left it unchallenged will help offset some of the bill rises elsewhere. We all know there are more coming. I wish the council tax & water bills would hurry up & arrive so I can get those figures entered on our spreadsheet too.
