27/24 for October please cathybird.Hoping to reach my years target of 300 days this month,CoolPut me down for 24 AFD for NovemberPoor Mr Dusty continues to decline unfortunately. We had hoped for a reasonable period of just memory loss, and perhaps confusion, but that bleed on the brain and convulsions in September have had severe repercussions. He has devolved into the paranoia stage where I am concerned. Sadly he now asserts that 3 of our children are not his. Since he is black african and I am white our kids are actually a fascinating and beautiful mix of both of us,with a variety of skin colours, eye colours, amount of curl in their hair from totally tight african frizz,to gentle waves etc etc. Now he asserts that only DS2 can be his,the others are too light. Reason and logic are totally overidden.I know this is the disease, not my husband of 54years talking,so I try to ignore it,but my kids are devastated. DD2 is offended and bitter,DD1 is devastated as she is the main focus of his rejection.DS1 has done so much to help, driving us to medical appointments ,hospital visits and the like, majking numerous phone calls on my behalf. He even had an alarm system set up,so if there is another stroke episode help will be here in 5 minutes. All this fitted in around an insane work schedule. He inspects and assesses biomass businesses all over Scotland down to Yorkshire. He also does consultation as far away as Gloucester and Exeter - we are in Co Durham. He does an insane amount of travelling and now tries to jam in a fortnights worth of work in 4 days so as to help with his dad. Now an international company wants him also to work for them, but he needs even more qualifications as an energy business auditor,so he has six months to study a huge amount of material,do a courseand other stuff.all while doing his normal work. He is such a down to earth practical sort of person,an engineer by nature as well as education,a seeker of solutions. This situation where he is mainly helpless, and is now being rejected by his father has been brutal. He is coping by arranging for DNA tests on Mr Dusty and all 4 kids, very expensive. They all gave samples yesterday, today he is taking them to the Post Office to send recorded delivery. The rest of the family, including me,are going along with it,but seriously,as I said earlier ,reason and logic are no part of the situation in his eyes, you cant reason with him at all.So the DNA tests are really just a coping mechanism for my son,but its causing problems in the family. These real life impacts are very different in practice to a few comments about dementia, saying there may be some paranoiamafter a while.Oh dear, another War and Peace length post, but I am so glad you are here for my monthly rant,it lets off steam. And its good to see so many group members doing so well.Sorry not to be taking part much, but I am with you in spirit.november will get me over the 300 days markYAY.Two years ago it was probably 300 days USING alcohol,so quite a reversal, and this group has been an incentive. Amazing how helpful it is putting off a drink because you are aiming for a little icon,a cat sitting on the moon swinging its tail etcetera! We keep on plodding4

@dustydigger that sounds so very hard. I am so sorry. There is nothing I can do but send support. The boards are what kept me sane and helped me in some of the toughest times of my life so sending love.
1/23 for me and going to a birthday dinner this evening so have purchased a bottle of fizz and arranged transport so I will drink this evening. Aiming to keep it reasonable though.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
