Thanks for all the replies - my situation is that I am going to retire early in the next year or so - I am a very active person so although I will have plenty to do in retirement I feel working 2-3 days a week will be a 'soft-landing', if I don't like it then I can just leave, the money I will be earning will be 'extra' and will be nice to have but I will be able to easily survive on my pension (I know this as I have been living on my calculated pension amount for the last few years and saving all that is currently left over, which of course means I have plenty of savings too). Money isn't an issue.
I have worked shifts since I was 17, the job has been similar over the years but I have moved around within the same organisation, it is very high-pressure, involves dealing with the public in often very difficult situations and can be very violent, physically demanding and stressful. However, 90% of the public are nice, although probably only 50% of colleagues are.
So I want a job where I just go to work, do the job, stay busy (as this makes the day go quicker), minimal interaction with anyone else, and then go home. Putting things in shelves or boxes for hours on end sounds like a dream job - and if it's not then I can leave, but at the moment, after the working life I have had, it looks pretty damn attractive to me.

So, that is my reasoning, all I have to do now is get the job and make sure it coincides with my retirement 'window' - the earliest I can reasonably retire will be April 2023 (unlikely as it is fast approaching) and I will definitely be gone by July 2024.
    Mortgage free!
    Debt free!

And now I am retired - all the time in the world!!

I retired at age of 50ish . Was bored so re-entered the workplace. I don't need the cash and like yourself can pack it in at anytime.

Unsure what you currently do. But most workplaces jobs are timed and have targets. Many jobs now have unrealistic targets geared at maximizing output and efficiency. Targets are often based on a perfect workplace and a perfect day.

Its all stick and no carrot out there lol. Mind you, probably manager dependant.   Management use many methods to attempt to drive unrealistic performance and hit targets. Some methods are underhanded.

From what i have heard amazon is brutal.

Good luck with the job hunting.
