Hi all.
Completely off topic, food wise, but do you have a crook, @Deleted_User? We've got an aluminium one, after we broke a couple of wooden ones. Great investment. Much easier to catch the little devils, also very useful to walk with, when the ground is slippery underfoot.
Be back later, just had weetabix and coffee. Of to town in a couple of minutes, hugs, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.8 -
Went to get the tyres fitted, they only had two of the three we'd ordered and paid for! Other two will be fitted Friday as we are in town again for the dentist.
Aldi, i spent £5.32. Onions, which have gone back down to 55p, they were 60p Christmas week. I'll buy a sack from the greengrocers when they reopen. Salad cream, I've been waiting for this to be back in for weeks. Toilet roll and kitchen roll, the later seems to have shot up in price too. Then went to Iceland for the milk, £2.97 for two bottles, after over sixty's discount. Then called into Morrisons. OH likes lemon chicken. It's his birthday this week, so i promised him i'd make it for us this week. They had sold out! But they had a lot of reductions. I got 2 packs of ice creams for 75p each; 9 packs of 6 breakfast pattys for 50p per pack, (these will either be eaten as burgers, or meat balls, or sausage plait, or made into scotch eggs); 9 packs of sausages 8 at £2.06, 1 at £1.50; and ten packs of cake decorations 13-25p. OH also put in a bloomer loaf and a pint of milk to drink, Greggs had no coffee. Then onto Tesco to get the lemon sauce, they had it, also three bags reduced carrots, a reduced lettuce and 2 gammon joints at half price.
I was trying to empty the freezer in the barn. All that lot above has filled it back up! Some good bargains though.
Tonight we are having lemon chicken and rice. Lunch was sandwiches made with bloomer loaf. I've got some leftover lasagne out for tomorrow night.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.8 -

Thank you for putting the link, @Katiehound. I should have put it on earlier really, never thought about it.
Busy day yesterday. We're taking advantage of the fact that the children are not here. We changed two toilet seats over. The one on the toilet downstairs was quite heavy and solid. It kept falling down if lifted, as there is not much space to lift it into. So we swapped it for the one in our ensuite, which was thin and light plastic. Solved the problem. Also managed to fit most of the skirting boards to the tiny room. It's around six foot square. And put the first coat of emulsion into the plaster. It will need two more, I think.
So tea last night was left over lasagne from the other week. There were two portions left so I froze them in an old foil tray, I have a cupboard full. Served with lettuce and tomatoes. Then we had one of the reduced I've creams from the shopping. Not very impressed. The cones were very biscuit like and they were rather small, given the size of the box. The children will eat the rest, I'm sure.
I'm going to make a batch of soup for lunch, using the "soup box" in the freezer. I have an old plastic tub in there, to which I add any left over veg, meat, gravy, etc. When it's full it gets thawed and blitzed. Then I add diced veg and sometimes meat. Tea will be decided later.

Hoped that I wasn't stepping on your toes- or more accurately your thread!
Just thought that others could be trawling through the pages and pages and pages of the old one!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Not treading on toes at all, @Katiehound. Everyone should feel free to jump onboard. The more the merrier.
Tea in the end was chilli and rice. I had a box of Bolognese sauce left in the fridge. I had thought about doing it today as chilli, the others come back today. But they will probably be late, and maybe eating in the car. OH says we should go out for a birthday tea today, he's paying with some money he made selling a car. So chilli was yesterday, used part of the bolognese, the rest will be frozen, (if I can find room!) And today we will go to the local chip shop.
The soup was good, enough left for lunch today. Very dark colour, there was a lot of red cabbage in the box, along with other vegetables. I put in diced onions, carrots, a handful of peas and the last bits of meat from the pork joint.
At the dentist after lunch, so will pick up milk. Off to put a third coat of paint on the walls. I hope that will be enough. I'd like to have finished by this evening, when the children come back. Children and wet paint is not a good combination!

I'm brand new to your posts but will be following eagerly. I've always spent far too much on food, mainly takeaways because I've been far too lazy to cook and I really need to get a hold of this.
Looking forward to following your journey.5 -
@mumtoomany are you sowing any seeds indoors yet or is it still a little early?3
