Happy New Year to all my OS friends
.
More heavy rain this morning.Izzy my NYE sounds a bit like yours re dogs & fireworksHad the TV on fairly loud & turned it off about 12.50 when she got on her bed and thankfully fell asleep for the rest of the night.
Picked up a few bits from Morries yesterday afternoon, a beef joint for today. Normally get meat from our butcher but it looked nice. Expecting a quiet day, DS2 is invited for tea but was unsure of his plans. It can soon be rustled up if he decides to come, there will be enough meat and I'm using up the leftover roasties that I froze after the C day meal.Sorry to hear JackieO is in hospital, and wish her a speedy recovery. Good to 'see' Donny-gal letting us know too.Thinking of Poppy, hope you are comfortable, and the other poorly people too. Take care x

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Happy New Year everyone. We were at a friend's house, he cooked a nice chilli con carne, we played a few games and then danced the new year in with Sam Ryder - such a talent. I was driving and only drank Cola but I have a headache too @bellabella which is so unfair! We are having roast beef later although now I really fancy a pie!!
Some shopping to do today - think the SMs are open?! I put on 3.5lb over the Christmas week which wasn't too bad.
Get well soon @JackieO, @Mehefin, @TravellingAbuela, @Nelski and take it easy @RedRuby1231 and @poppy811. Sorry if I've missed out anyone, brain fog!
Have a good day all

Happy New Year everyone
DD and I were in bed by 10.15 last night! There were fireworks at 10 which woke little one and made her cry so I just got sorted and went to bed. It was pouring with rain so I had thought we might not hear any. We've been down to mam and dads this morning. My brother called in as well so that was nice. DD was saying her goodbyes as she goes home tomorrow.
Youngest DD has gone to visit friends in Halifax this weekend so little one is with me. I'm very happy to have her staying but eldest DD has had enough of the constant chatter! She's not really 'into' children. Sometimes it's hard to please everyone isn't it?
Sorry to hear you're ill Jackie O - hope you're home soon.
Have read back but forgotten what everyone said!
Gers your new room sounds cosy.
I suggested to little one she make a card for great-gran and grandad - she decided to draw a big green slug on the front! Great-gran of course told her she loves slugs!
She's very excited as she'll be 4 on Tuesday - I don't know where that time has gone. Lots of that time has been spent worrying about her!
Better make a move...theres a couple of big paddles outside so I've promised her she can put her waterproof suit on and go for a splash.
Take care everyone x

Just popping in to wish everyone a Happy New Year and sending best wishes for 2023, especially the poorly ones - JackieO, poppy, TA, Nels, mehefin and anyone else I may have forgotten.
A few fireworks last night, some before midnight, some after and some at the right time but nowhere near as many as previous years. We were still awake so it didn't matter to us - and we don't have nervous pooches - but someone managed a final splurge at around 4 am.
Not doing much today - it is a Bank Holiday after all! A more "normal" dinner today of traditional Sunday roast beef and tomorrow we'll be having egg & chips, always requested by DH after the festivities.
Take care all, here's to a better 2023. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
Hi all,
Sending healing thoughts to all who are unwell and finding things tough at the moment. Hope you are all on the mend soon (or at least as well as can be).
Took the decorations down today. I like getting things back to “normal” before the return to school/work.Had a big buffet lunch at mums with all the family - took some things that needed using up and we all came home full and not wanting any tea this evening. My sister had a clear out and brought some dishwasher tablets, limescale tablets and magic erasers and mop heads. All gratefully received, stashed away and will save some pennies over next few months. There were other things in the bag but only took what I would use.Hubby has gone to the shop to get milk, we decided that was all we needed to see us through next week. So a very low spend food shop for week 1!
tomorrow is my last day off before return to work so going to have a planning day - updating the new calendar, creating a meal plan, writing a list of what we have in the freezers, deciding on some fun things to do this year so we can focus on these as a distraction from trying hard to live frugally and save as much as possible. Thinking along the lines of a couple of big days out that we budget and save monthly for and then the rest low spend (beach/picnic/hikes etc) but visiting somewhere new.
Hoping everyone has had a lovely old style day and manages to get an early night to catch up on sleep.IWAB x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(5 -
Happy New Year everyone
Had a good Christmas & New Year apart from DM not being well again with a UTI and the dreaded lurgy which is doing the rounds. She has been in bed every day since Boxing Day. My SIL took her up to the urgent care tonight and she has been given more antibiotics.
I came home today, good journey on the motorways. I’m back in work in the morning for a 12 hr shift and for the following 3 days.
Tea tonight was freezer surprise.
Sending get well wishes to JackieO, Ruby, mehfin and anyone else under the weather. Will try and pop in more often. Take care5
