Good morning, thanks for starting Gers - Happy New Years Day to you. It's a damp start as usual, there was heavy rain last night. We had a quiet NYE, but that was ok. Our neighbour was going to come round, but she's hurt her back, so stayed at home. We watched TV, and the family Whatsapp groups were busy, which was nice. Isn't it wonderful that you can contact someone in Australia and have a reply almost instantly (as long as you remember the time difference). We went to bed at about1.30.It's going to be a quiet day today I think, Dd and co are still at their cottage, and I don't know what Ds2 and family are doing. They were at the laser show in Newcastle last night, I think we may see them tomorrow..Thinking of our poorly people, TA, Mehefin and others, and hope everyone has as good a day as they can.Take care folks, happy 2023 to all of you.12

Morning All
Happy New Year!
Thanks for the start Gers, hope the weather is ok with you, it's been snowing here.
The fire has been lit already, it's been a godsend over these holidays, the heating has only been on a couple of times for an hour or so.
Yesterday's dip was very quick, at 0.5 degrees in the water and no wetsuit it wasn't the day to be hanging around. There were a few of us so we went for a coffee and bacon roll after which was lovely but a tad expensive.
I think I ate too much chocolate yesterday and had a bit of tummy ache during the night, not a great night's sleep but I can have a Nana nap later. Today is the day to start eating a little more sensibly!
Steak pie dinner at friends this evening so no cooking here.
Hope the poorlies are feeling better and you all have a lovely day. Take care. XX

Camelot - no snow here, just more rain. Scarlet - enjoy your quiet day.Predictably I was in bed well before the Bells last night. I retired to the new upstairs room to watch some TV and enjoy a glass of wine though by 10.30pm I was sound asleep in bed. Like Scarlet I had a flurry of calls and texts from family in Australia and South Korea. Some parts of Oz are 11 hours ahead and some a mere ten.Having a steak pie on NYD is traditional in most of Scotland. The other day I saw a chap buying 14 enamel pie dishes, when I spoke to him he told me that he makes pies for his family each year. My butcher here has huge piles of the pies he makes, all different sizes. I'll not be having one.I read this morning that Kiwi foot polish is no longer being sold in the UK. This news item took me down a memory tunnel of polishing school shoes under the steely eye of my beloved father who had been an SQMS in the RE. We'd never be allowed out with scruffy shoes. I still have his polishing off brush. 😀
Enough waffling. Enough rubbish food. Today is a new start, I'm aiming to drink more water. 😂 There's a family wedding in Seoul in May so shifting a bit of me would be good, it has to be more than just an intention.I hope that all our poorlies are slowly improving or being well looked after. Stay warm and rest up. I read that JackieO is in hospital so a thought to her too.Happy New Year, May 2023 bring everyone health, happiness and lots of MSE stuff. 😇11 -

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Happy New Year everybody both here and afar. Let's hope it's a more peaceful one.
I am now on Day 8 of the lurgy and at last I feel to be on the mend - apart from the horrendous cough. But I am prepared for that going on a bit longer according to other people's reports. I had better do a few little jobs this morning. Everything has been hold waiting till I felt a bit better. I need to gird my loins and look in the salad drawer as that hasn't been out since before Christmas. Salad was the last thing I felt like eating! I expect a lot will be to bin. I have a wash on the go, mostly pj's, which will festoon the back bedroom. I could do with flicking the duster around too if I cba.
Have a lovely day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the other poorlies, fed up or lonely. Take care all and be safe xx
Just had a read back of yesterday's thread after reading news of Jackie O. I missed that. If she happens to be reading along get well vibes are on their way x

Morning all and a Happy New Year with the shiny lure of new directions and avenues to explore...Neither of us will be doing that for a few days at least, we were both on the sofa and unable to move very much, him because of sciatica, which he's never had before, and me with two dodgy feet for different reasons...But the even if the sun is not exactly shining, it's not raining! yay! So an indulgent breakfast of smoked salmon and eggs with added cream or cream cheese is on the menu followed by whatever we fancy. I could totally get behind pie for supper, we love pies and we do our best to eat all of themHave a nice day doing whatever you fancy and shout out to the poorly, I'm looking at you Jackie, at you Ruby, and you mehefin, and you TA...OK, I should stop now before I run out of box to type everyone in...suffice it to say, hope you have a pain free, snot free time in the next few days at least...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi8

Morning everyone thanks for starting us off Gers get well soon Jackie Ruby and Mehefin and anyone else who is struggling. Cold and damp here I was in bed early last night but awake at 12 the dogs were all sound asleep but all woke up in a flap at the stroke of midnight I couldn’t hear a thing but they all heard fireworks thankfully they didn’t last long and I had them all settled back down for about 1 it’s worse than having kids . Not a lot will be done today a couple of dog walks and keeping warm and dry I have a chicken to cook for tonight but that’s about it . Happy new year to everyone looking forward to what everyone gets up to this year but let’s hope it’s a happy peaceful and prosperous one . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing8

Happy New Year.
This will be a quick one because I am really tired. We had friends over and they didn't leave till 2.30 by which time I wasn't able to suppress my yawns and was wishing them gone. It was lovely to have a catch up though.
Get well wishes especially to taff and Mr taff, TA, Mehefin, Ruby and JackieO (I recommend the morphine they gave me for my very painful gall bladder before it was removed), hopefully I've not missed anyone really poorly. Poppy, I'm thinking of you.9 -
