    I understand that only approx' 30% of the mail countrywide is handled by Royal Mail. The other 70% isnt, which means they have alternative options available. 

    There are no other realistic options for letters.

    While a lot of letters are posted by firms who use other postal companies, they all pass the mail on to Royal Mail to deliver those items to your address.

    Firms have tried to compete by directly delivering letters to properties but stopped as they found it unprofitable.

    I have exactly the opposite with HSBC, account opened, switched from Santander and RS opened within 10 days and only that long due to royal mail. £200 switching money in on time when they said it would be.
