Dear diary 🤣
Just a small update today. I have had another payment leave my account... which is rather exciting in my little world at the moment and so a little more paid off of my debts and I have added a little more to my emergency fund. Emergency fund now sits at £500!
I ve been feeling a little down this week. The job, I quit, because it was taking up too much time and energy, hasn't paid me. I was just working for one man and there was no contract. Despite this I still worked a week and a halves notice to tie up a deal for him. It's only for a smallish amount of money I am owed, but I ve asked about it three times now and still no payment. He keeps saying I will get paid. The first time he said he had forgotten to pay, but that wasn't true as I had reminded him twice last weekend during a conversation and still no payment. I asked again last night, and still as of today, no payment. So disappointing. Saying that I am grateful I have seen his true colours before it was any more money! My burnt fingers will heal.
Anyway, glad I ve made some progress today still even if its not as much I had hoped for.Grocery Challenge 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍌🍍

That’s so disappointing. As you say, at least you’ve seen his true colours before you got in any deeper. Don’t give up thoughCredit Card 1 - £6249.99 £4,900

Sorry to hear about the old boss - it definitely sounds like you're better off out of there! How long did you work there? My employment law knowledge is a bit out of date but if you did want to pursue it, there is an implied contract after a certain timeframe* so the lack of a formal one (which, in itself, is a breach!*) shouldn't stop you from claiming against them.
The progress on the emergency fund is great, nice one!! How does it feel to have £500 there if something does come up?
* as I say, I trained about 10 years ago, this could be wrong now!1 -

Thanks everyone for your kind words of support 💗
Just since September Matt, not long and I did think the same about an implied contract of employment but I am sure I don't have the energy to pursue it.
Thank you Sarah, I completely agree, I did a lot to help him out and he wouldn't have had the deal tied up without me (literally no one else to do it). I just keep repeating over to myself that how he chooses to show up in this world is not a reflection of me, and how I choose to show up in this world is more important. Still sickening. I have put my faith in karma I think now. I will chase up again on Monday 🙄
Nothing much more to report at the moment. DH has gone food shopping with a list and strict instructions to stick to the list 🤣🤣 he's very good at getting extra just in case bless him. We only need a small top up shop for lunchboxes next week, milk and fruit really. I am already over on my personal challenge of £250 for food shopping for this month. We usually spend around £450 a month but I had two freezers full after Christmas and so I thought I would challenge myself this month to be extra frugal. Turns out it was tougher than I had originally expected so I think we are more likely to be around the £300 mark this month. That's still a saving though and will be more money tucked away for a rainy day 😊🤞
Hope everyone has a super smashing great weekend! 👍

Hi everyone,
I have a small update!
Today I received a small payment from my old boss. He has told me that the rest will be paid this week 🤞
I am still so very confused as to why he felt the need to not pay me before, and choose instead to make me wait.
But!
I am so happy/ relieved that I ve had some of it. I should (fingers crossed) get the same amount again (if he keeps his word) this week.
So, I ve been able to pay £100 into my emergency savings, £25 into my new (as of today) sinking fund for school uniform and £3.25 off of my paypal account.
I am so proud of how I am managing my money right now and how things have changed so much for me since my lightbulb moment in September. Back then I was literally living in my overdraft. I would get paid, and that would clear it all and then I would be straight back into it to pay my bills.
I could never quite get ahead.
Now the thought of using my overdraft is an absolute no go zone. I have reduced my overdraft limit on both of my current accounts by half, and will be reducing them further in a few months time as I adjust. Not that I intend to ever use them again. There is just some sort of comfort in having them there "just in case" I have miscalculated whilst I learn to properly Budget.
Anyway, those are my ramblings for today, I hope everyone is staying warm. I have my log burner on right now but don't plan to go to bed too late, as I have to be up at 3:45am for my part time job, so I won't be putting any more logs onto it. That's money saving right there 😊Grocery Challenge 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍌🍍

Well done. You are doing really well. Your emergency fund is growing fast.1

That's great news @Gettingmyshiztogether !!
I know how you feel about the overdraft. I switched accounts to one that had no overdraft, just to be brave and force myself out of it (after feeling the "safety" of a £2k overdraft for many years). They are not the friend of a budgeter in my opinion1 -
Sold an item so another £5 into the emergency fund.
