QUOTE=Rebob]I give my boy Seven Seas Pulse High Strength Triomega capsules. [/QUOTE]
I can't find online what the percentage of EPA to DHA is on these but even at 3 for 2 they work out very expensive.

They contain 300mg oF Omega, so one capsule provides exactly the same total amount of Omega as a Zipvit capsule which if you buy 360 work out at £3.25 for 120.

As has been previously pointed out the easiest way of meeting the Durham trial dose is with the Zipvit Omega Juice. If they could put this into palatable capsules so you give 3 a day to match to Durham trial it would make life a lot easier for a lot of parents.

What is this Zipvit omega juice? Where do you buy it and how much is the correct dose? I just based the amount of seven seas around the amount that eye q advised a child to have. My boy is 8 years old but in height and chest measurement he is the size of a ten year old. ( Incase size affects the dosage). Thanks

    ZIPVIT
Omega Juice is product A216j Comes in a 360ml plastic bottle which fits in the fridge once open. They say use a teaspoon 5 ml daily but as it provides 1.500mg of Omega in total and as you will have found out now the Durham trial used 558 mg of EPA which they believe, is the important part. So to get 558mg of EPA using Omega Juice you need less than one teaspoon but slightly more than a half a teaspoon.
So if your children find it palatable then it's certainly the most cost effective source. (Actually I've seen another in Boyes which matches Zipvit for price and concentration but not everywhere has a Boyes) as you should be able to get about 90 days supply (using between half/full teaspoon daily) However, not everyone finds it sufficiently palatable to manage to take it long enough for it to become an acquired taste. I am used to it now but I can see why some people don't take to it.
Anyway at £4.95 for about 90 days supply it's good value for money.

On the subject of omega oils, my 7 year old stepson has suddenly turned into a bit of a monster, bad behaviour at school and at home (always good as gold when visiting us - a bit odd).

I personally think it may be diet related and wanted to get hold of some sort of factsheet that we can give to his mum as she isn't on the internet.

Have been having a google, but not found anything that is overly printer friendly.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good explanation?

When I looked for advice the lists were 30 pages plus. The bits that seem relavent are to avoid the colours - tartrazine E102, sunset yellow E110, carmoisine E122, ponceau 4R E124 and the preservative sodium benzoate E211.

A typical day for my son is :- weetabix with ssmilk; cheese sandwich, yoghurt, pure fruit juice and a couple of pieces of fruit; hm spag bol or jacket potatoe with tuna and sweetcorn. He does have the occaisional biscuit or small bar of choc but I make sure that they are not the additive laiden posh ones. Since following a closer watched diet and taking omega oils he has been a lot better behaved.
